PANO – The Ho Dynasty Citadel in the Vietnamese Central province of Thanh Hoa ranks first among the 21 Greatest World Heritage Sites on the planet, announced the USA-based CNN. The choice of the Ho Citadel for such a prestigious honor is due to a couple of reasons. Firstly, it lasted just seven years (1400-1407) and is a mere drop in the ocean of Vietnam's turbulent history. Secondly, the citadel is empty, "no palaces, temples or monuments, just four walls around a plot of land". Thanks to its unique construction technology using huge stone blocs, the citadel remains almost intact after all its ups and downs throughout history. Many TV channels and magazines from the UK, the USA, Japan and Canada are arriving in Quang Binh to survey and shoot documentaries about Son Doong, the world's biggest cave, as well as the biodiversity of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a world natural heritage site. From March 6-26, British ITV Studio will make a TV documentary about Son Doong cave and biodiversity in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. US filmmakers from National Geographic will also visit the newly-discovered grotto to shoot a film. This survey will feature the famous British explorer, Howard Limbert and will be broadcast in 120 countries in various languages. Hoi An, in central Vietnam received 96 per cent of the vote from readers and was ranked at 2nd place. The World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang in Laos has retained its number 1 position in Wanderlust Travel Magazine's annual list of best tourist destinations with a score of 96.89 percent. The other places to make it on the list are Kyoto (Japan), Stockholm (Sweden), Perth (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), San Francisco (USA), Vienna (Austria), Cusco (Peru) and Aleppo (Syria).
