Vietnam’s Minister of Finance has fired Tran Van Dung as chairman of the State Securities Commission (SSC) for committing serious wrongdoings during his work and assigned Finance Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi to take charge of the SSC. The dismissal was announced in a decision signed on Friday by Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc, who also said his deputy Chi would run the SSC from the same day, pending a decision of the ministry on the SSC chairmanship. The ministry also issued its warnings to Vu Bang, former chairman of the SSC, Nguyen Thanh Long, chairman of the Vietnam Stock Exchange, and Nguyen Son, chairman of the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD) for their mistakes and violations. Vingroup divests stake in genetic testing company
Vingroup said recently it is no longer the parent company of GeneStory without mentioning how much stake it sold. The country’s biggest private company established GeneStory in March this year with a charter capital of VND102.3 billion (US$4.4 million), of which it accounted for 99 percent. According to GeneStory’s website, its CEO is Nguyen Duc Long, who is also the chief technology officer of the Vingroup Big Data Institute. It aims to provide "fast and comprehensive genetic testing services based on a large Vietnamese dataset, exclusively for Vietnamese people." Vietnam issues 14 million ‘COVID-19 vaccine passports’
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has issued 14 million ‘COVID-19 vaccine passports’ to the general public since April 15. A month after its official rollout, the passport is now available on the national COVID-19 app PC-Covid and the Digital Health app. It has 11 fields of information: name, date of birth, nationality, the targeted disease, doses of vaccines received, date of vaccination, lot number of the vaccine batch, type of vaccine, vaccine product received, the vaccine manufacturer, and a code for the certification. Information on the targeted disease, vaccine, vaccine product or manufacturer is compatible with the values provided in the World Health Organization’s 'COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker and Landscape' and the 'Value Sets for EU Digital COVID Certificates' issued by the European Union. Vietnamese PE teacher dreams of teaching 1 million kids to swim
Huynh Duc Linh, a Vietnamese physical education teacher, is pursuing his dream of teaching swimming to one million kids in Vietnam, spending the last six years teaching over 10,000 students. In 2019, Linh was informed of nine students from Nghia Ha Middle School in central Quang Ngai Province dying in a tragic drowning incident. Since then, Linh and his colleagues have tried to teach swimming skills to children, reaching their target of running courses for over 10,000 kids after six years. Recently, the government has called for far more actions to prevent drowning , making Linh and his team decide to pursue a bigger dream: teaching up to one million kids to swim. More than 14 million people receive COVID-19 vaccine passports
The Ministry of Health announced that it has issued more than 14 million COVID-19 vaccine passports to the general public, a month from its official rollout on April 15.
