Second woman killed in shark attack in Egypt’s Red Sea

Two women were killed in shark attacks in Egypt's Red Sea, south of the city of Hurghada, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment said on Sunday. Two sources told Reuters that the body of a Romanian tourist in her late forties was discovered hours after an attack that left a 68-year-old Austrian woman dead. Both attacks happened within 600 metres of each other, off the coast of Sahl Hasheesh, according to the sources. The ministry said in its statement that a committee had been formed to examine the circumstances of the attacks and any scientific reasons behind them. It also mentioned that the Governor of the Red Sea Governorate, Major General Amr Hanafi, has issued an order to suspend all activity in the area surrounding the attacks. The first victim was transferred to a local private hospital, a source at the Red Sea Health Affairs Directorate told Reuters. PAN’s reporter wins silver medal of “Moments of the SEA Games 31” photo contest

The results of the photo contest have been announced by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. The only gold medal has been presented to photographer Luong Viet Son Tung (Hanoi) who took the “Vietnamese athletics surprised with a gold medal in the 100m hurdles SEA Games 31 of Bui Thi Nguyen” photo. The organizing panel has also presented another silver and three bronze medals and five consolation prizes to other participants. Launched in June, the contest has attracted the participation of both amateur and professional photographers from across the country. Lan to represent Vietnam at world athletics championships

The 26-year-old earned a wild card entry to the 18th edition of the event after Vietnam failed to win a berth through the official qualification regime. She will compete in the 400 m hurdles qualification round on July 19. If she qualifies, she will head to the semi-finals on July 20 and the finals two days later. Lan will go up against the fastest runners in the world, including Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin who crossed the finish line in 51.41 seconds and broke her own world record of 51.46 seconds in 400 m hurdles at the U.S. track and field championships last week. Lan won the 400 m hurdles race at the 2018 Asian Games and the Asian championships in 2019.
