Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, who won the long jump event on May 15 for Việt Nam in the Mỹ Đình Gymnasium, marked a golden day when he proposed to his girlfriend right after stepping off the podium. Trọng revealed the plan to some of his team members a long time before. He was determined to win the gold medal and then give his girlfriend the ring at the gymnasium. The moving moment. The lucky girl was Nguyễn Thị Phương Trinh, an athlete on the national sepak takraw team. Phương accepted the ring after returning from a match at the Hoàng Mai Gymnasium. Vietnam Airlines joins SkyTeam’s Sustainable Flight Challenge programme
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has participated in "The Sustainable Flight Challenge" (TSFC) programme, launched by SkyTeam Airline Alliance, with the first flight from Hanoi to the Republic of Korea’s Seoul. Passengers on Vietnam Airlines' flight were welcomed with a cloth bag and card conveying the message of environmental protection, all made from environmental-friendly materials. Vietnamese-French Fields Medalist receives Maurice Audin prize for math

A Vietnamese-French academic was presented with the Maurice Audin mathematics prize in Paris on Wednesday for his great contribution to the field, after a two-year wait. According to the French website Images des mathématiques (or Images of Math), Prof. Ngo Bao Chau, 46, a Vietnamese-French mathematician at the University of Chicago, was announced the winner of the 2016 edition of the Maurice Audin prize. Images des mathématiques is published by the French National Center for Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – CNRS) and devoted to popularization in mathematics, with an aim to show the diversity of the science in an attractive way – words and pictures. Prof. Chau is best known for proving the fundamental lemma for automorphic forms proposed by American-Canadian mathematician Robert Langlands and Australian mathematician Diana Shelstad.
