The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said in a news release that its deputy minister attended the UN Security Council open debate “Upholding the UN Charter to Maintain International Peace and Security”, chaired by Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Minh. In his speech, Kyslytsya highly valued Vietnam’s initiative to launch the year marking the UN’s 75th anniversary with the discussion of the importance of upholding its founding document – the UN Charter. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said at Kyslytsya’s meeting with the Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, the two sides focused on the prospects of strengthening relations in economic, trade and political areas, as well as of the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries at the UN and other international organisations. Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on January 16 sent a message of congratulations to the new Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin. In his message, PM Phuc expressed his belief that PM Mishustin will lead the Russian Government to new achievements in national development. Moscow (VNA) – A roundtable discussion on Vietnam – Russia cooperation was held in Moscow on January 20 as part of activities to mark the 70th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Hosted by the Centre for Vietnam and ASEAN Studies under the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IFES RAS), the event brought together a crowd of Vietnamese and Russian scholars. In his opening speech, Director of the IFES RAS Sergei Lyzyanin said the event aims to review achievements of cooperation between the two nations and discuss orientations to expand their relations in the coming time.
