Two more imported Covid-19 patients confirmred on Thursday
According to the ministry's report, the two men aged 54 and 66 returned from the US and transited in South Korea before landing at Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on January 1. They were sent to a quarantine area upon arrival in Phu Yen Province and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on January 20. The patients are now being treated at the Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital. Earlier, 16 other people who boarded the same flight with them had also been infected with the virus. With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 852. As of 6 pm on January 21, a total of 1,411 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases. Mining industry unable to enjoy tax incentives
Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The mining industry faced difficulties in the first eight months of this year due to being unable to enjoy tax and land rental incentives, said Nguyen Huu Quang, deputy head of the National Assembly's Committee on Finance and Budget. The National Assembly and the Government have issued many policies to reduce taxes, fees, charges and land rents and extend payment deadlines to support amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the mining industry has not accessed these incentives. The General Statistics Office (GSO) reported the index of industrial production (IIP) for the first eight months of this year was estimated to surge by 2.2 percent year-on-year, while the mining industry’s IIP reduced 7 percent. Public investment will focus on key projects: Minister
Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Public investment will focus on key national projects with important roles in enhancing regional links and creating new drivers and room for economic growth, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung has said. Last year saw the highest public investment disbursement rate in 2016-2020 as the Government identified public investment as a major driver for growth in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Planning and Investment estimated the public investment disbursement rate would reach more than 90 percent of the plan as of the end January 31 (the deadline for disbursement of 2020 public investment), compared to 73.3 percent of 2017, 66.8 percent of 2018 and 67.46 percent of 2019. There were 17 ministries, central-level agencies and 17 localities with disbursement rates of more than 80 percent as of December 31, 2020.
