Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Houlin Zhao praised the proposals and initiatives of Vietnam and hoped that it would share its experiences with other ITU member countries. The ITU is a specialized organization of the United Nations established on July 15, 1947. The ITU has 193 member countries, and more than 700 associate members that are businesses, research institutions operating in the fields of telecommunications and information technology, and regional and international organizations. The ITU is an organization with the mission of maintaining and strengthening international cooperation in the fields of wireline, radio, fiber optic cable, and satellite in all member countries to enable the use of telecommunications in the most effective way. To last until November 21, it will see runners record the distance they run and the time they take on a mobile application on the UpRace website. Each validated kilometre will fetched donations of at least VNĐ1,000 from VNG and other sponsors, and the money will be donated to NGOs Newborns Vietnam, Operation Smile Vietnam, Saigon Children’s Charity, and GreenViet. Industrial facilities in Hanoi have been at risk of causing environmental pollution which have a detrimental effect on people’s health and hinders urban development. Architectural experts believe that old industrial buildings could provide the ideal location to create cultural spaces, giving dilapidated properties a new lease of life. The idea was discussed during an online webinar held in Hanoi on October 21 by architects from Vietnam and Europe alongside building owners and property managers. They hope to share knowledge on the best solutions to turn run-down buildings into cultural spaces the city can be proud of.
