Vietnam, Germany hold consultations to endorse strategic action plan
"Based on common interests, Germany and Vietnam will deepen their cooperation as part of their strategic modernization partnership," State Secretary Andreas Michaelis and Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung agreed on this year's German-Vietnamese consultations. The consultations held in Hanoi on Wednesday endorsed the Strategic Action Plan for 2020-21 calling on Germany and Vietnam to uphold rule-based order and respect for international law, in particular the protection of human rights and principles regarding sovereignty and the rule of law, the German Embassy said in a press release on Friday. The new Strategic Action Plan is the basis and guideline for German-Vietnamese cooperation for the next two years. The year 2020, when Germany and Vietnam celebrate 45 years of bilateral relations, offers many opportunities for even closer bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Vietnamese man visits 50 countries, and counting, on motorbike
A Vietnamese man from southern Vietnam is living his dream, or everyone’s dream: traveling the world by motorbike. On the 794th day of his journey, Tran Dang Dang Khoa reached Sydney - the two-third mark on his seven-continent motorbike journey. “Suddenly I opened my eyes and I saw Sydney, an important milestone which marks two-thirds of my world journey on ‘The Memo’ and over two years since my departure,” Khoa shared with his 237,500 Facebook followers on August 3. A picture capturing nature in a rural area in Australia taken by Khoa has received positive feedback from his Facebook followers. “The Memo” is the name of the motorbike he has used for the trip, which began in June 2017, and the vehicle has so far taken him through around 50 countries. Ho Chi Minh Trail’s ending point recognised as special national relic
At the ceremony (Photo: VNA) Addressing a ceremony in Dong Xoai city of Binh Phuoc on May 10 to announce the decision, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tien Dung recalled that during the war, the nearly 17,000km Ho Chi Minh Trail helped transport weapons and soldiers to the battlefields, contributing to the success of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975 to liberate and reunite the country. The strategic trail started from the central province of Nghe An and ran through Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and ended in Binh Phuoc. It passed through dense areas of jungle, and served the supply of weapons, goods, food, and military equipment from the North to the South during the country’s resistance war.
