Climate change and extreme weather patterns have had negative impacts on many areas nationwide, she said. In 2020, central provinces, including Quang Binh, suffered substantial losses from storms and floods.

Given this, she stressed, tree planting and forestation hold strategic significance for the country’s sustainable development.

She called for joint efforts in the campaign, particularly the initiative from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to plant a billion trees over the next five years.

A representative from the MARD said that during the 2016-2020 period, some 227,000 ha of concentrated forests and 67 million scattered trees were planted each year.

The rate of forest coverage reached 42 percent last year and the export value of wood and wooden products was 13.17 billion USD, up 16.4 percent year-on-year.

Forest coverage is expected to remain unchanged during the 2021-2025 period, with export revenue set at 20 billion USD.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thang reported that the locality planted 8,100 ha of concentrated forests and harvested 450,000 cu.m. of wood in 2020.

Quang Binh ranked second nationwide in forest coverage last year, with 68 percent, he said.

After the launch ceremony, Thinh paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and martyrs in Quang Binh, and visited a center for children with disabilities in Dong Hoi city.

The Vietnamese top leaders believed that the US-Vietnam relations will continue developing efficiently and sustainably thanks to fruitful results gained over the past 25 years together with President Biden’s good feelings for Vietnam, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Biden won 306 Electoral College votes to Republican Donald Trump’s 232 in the election held in November 2020.

On the same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh congratulated US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Earlier in December 2020, Vietnamese top leaders sent their congratulations to US President-elect Joe Biden and invited him to visit Vietnam at the earliest possible time.

The US and Vietnam relationship has been strengthened with bilateral trade increasing from US$450 million in 1994 to $77 billion in 2019. The US became Vietnam’s largest export market with Vietnam being the US’ quickest growing export market.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo on February 17 affirmed that there will be no Cabinet reshuffle in a near future as the government is focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic combat.

In late 2020, the President inaugurated six ministers and five vice ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet at the State Palace, according to Antara News.

The six ministers are Yaqut Cholil Khoumas as religious affairs minister; Budi Gunadi Sadikin as health minister; Tri Rismaharani as social affairs minister; Muhammad Lutfi as trade minister; Sakti Wahyu Trenggono as maritime affairs and fisheries minister; and Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno as tourism and creative economy minister/chief of the Tourism and Creative Economy Board.

They were appointed as ministers based on Presidential Decree No. 133/P/2020 dated December 23, 2020, on the replacement of several ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet for the 2014-2024 term./.

The Hanoitimes – With the change of its administration, America is facing many uncertainties in many aspects but having some glimpses of hope and optimistic for the time ahead.

With the inauguration of the former Democratic vice-president Joe Biden as the 46th president, the US has installed a new administration replacing the Republican government headed by Donald Trump.

After four years, the 78 years old Joe Biden returned to the White House where he spent eight years together with former Democratic president Barack Obama.

With Joe Biden as president, the US has the first woman, first Black American and first South Asian American to hold the office of the vice-president. This power transfer was extremely remarkable, maybe even unique until now in the US history, because of Donald Trump’s populistic and widely seen as disastrous presidency and because of the politically and juridically chaotic months and days after the 2020 presidential election, especially because of the violent storm on the Capitol on the 6th of this year’s January by Trump supporters radicalised by Trump himself.

America had experienced a historically unprecedented political and social earthquakes. The US is now at a turning point.

The question is whether it was only a new start or already a new beginning, already a revolution or only an upheaval, only transition or already changes. After all happenings, this country and the Biden administration now both have their chance to answer those above-mentioned questions.

Whether it was only a start of a new administration or maybe, even already the beginning of a new era is surely depending on how the new president intends to perceive and to capitalize on this chance to change and reform America politically, legally, juridically and socially so basically and profoundly that its democracy couldn’t be derailed again, that this country could find its urgently needed normalcy in peace and reconciliation, in political  stability and social security and that this country regains international credibility the sooner the better for the new president and for America.

In his inauguration speech, the new president disclosed to already have found the right language and words to deal with the new chance by emphasizing “Unity”, calling for reconciliation and offering bipartisan cooperation.

He showed his proper approach when committing to take quick actions and define right priorities in his governing policies. Only if he succeeded with his governing programs, he could prevent the returning of the Trump times and create a really new beginning for America.

He could only succeed if he, first of all, push back the coronavirus pandemic and restore economic growth in the next days and months, not in years. He could only succeed if he gets the Republicans on his side to deal and in dealing with all most urgent present problems of America.

It would surely take long time to heal America’s present wounds and a really new beginning for America means at the same time to really try as much as possible to heal those wounds in America’s soul and body.

Unlike his predecessors, President Biden has now the chance and the mission of his lifetime to do that.

With the change of its administration, America is facing many uncertainties in many aspects but having some glimpses of hope and optimistic for the time ahead.
