Deputy PM holds talks with Belarusian counterpart

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue (R) and his Belarusian counterpart Igor Lyashenko (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue held talks with his Belarusian counterpart Igor Lyashenko on December 13, organised in the framework of the ongoing official visit by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Belarus. During the talks, the two officials discussed ways to further promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus. They agreed that the economic, trade and investment cooperation has recorded fruits, adding that the two sides need to push the import and export of commodities that they need and have strength in such as trucks, equipment, spare parts, fertilisers and milk from Belarus, and agriculture and aquaculture products, textiles and footwear from Vietnam. Top legislator begins official visit to Belarus

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (Photo: VNA) Minsk (VNA) – National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and her entourage arrived at Minsk International Airport on December 12 morning, beginning a three-day official visit to Belarus. The trip is made at the invitation of Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the NA of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko. Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Isachenko Anatoly Mikhailovich, other officials of the Council, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Pham Hai. Vietnam becomes 15th most populous nation

At the online conference (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Home to more than 96 million people, Vietnam has become the world’s 15th most populous nation and the third in Southeast Asia, the Central Population and Housing Census Steering Committee revealed at the online conference in Hanoi on July 11. Preliminary results of the 2019 census show that the country’s population expanded by 10.4 million as compared to a decade ago, and the average growth rate was 1.14 percent per year while the figure was 1.18 percent for 1999-2009. Vietnam has an average population density of 290 people per square kilometre, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh being the most densely populated cities. Nearly 2,400 people reside in one square kilometre in the capital city, and the number in the southern hub is 4,363. The census also found the country experienced a rapid pace of urbanisation in the past 10 years, scaling up the urban population to 33 million people, or 34.4 percent of the total.
