The project to build the new facility was approved by the Prime Minister in 2010. In 2011, investors designed to build a 5,000-square metre facility, which was later expanded to more than 7,000 square metres. HCM City People’s Committee has instructed the authorities of Bình Chánh District, where the new facility will be located, and investors to speed up the construction many times, but the project still has not yet been started. Việt Nam has actively participated in regional and international organisations such as the MRC, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Forum. VN painter’s work sold at high price
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — A silk painting by a popular female painter Lê Thị Lựu (1911-1988) was sold for US$207,821 at an auction sale by Sotherby’s in Hong Kong on Sunday. The silk painting, titled Trẻ Em Nghịch Hoa (Children Playing with Children), drawn in 1966, was among the highest priced items at the sale, which showcased some 186 works from across the world, including 45 works by Vietnamese artists. The 64.5cm x 54.5cm silk painting drawn with various colour materials is considered an advancement in the development process of silk painting in Việt Nam, with the surface effect found to be different from those found in silk paintings earlier. The artist has managed to nearly achieve the surface effect of colour powder, acrylic and even oil-on-canvas paintings. The increase is equivalent to between VNĐ30,000 (US$1.3) and VNĐ400,000 per ticket for one way travel, depending on age. A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that after raising prices, children would enjoy the same adult services as seats, meals and checking luggage free of charge.
