The two Vietnamese artists who have made headlines since last week for their arrest in Spain due to an accusation of having raped a 17-year-old British girl last month have found themselves a lawyer and are waiting for arraignment, according to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ta Quang Dong. The police department of the tourist island of Majorca confirmed last Friday that they had arrested two Vietnamese males over sexual assault allegations on June 25. Spanish and British media reported that the two Vietnamese citizens stayed at a hotel in Sant Elm on the island and met a 17-year-old girl from the UK, who roomed with her family at a different hotel, at a restaurant on June 24. Vietnam, Japan review joint initiative
It was reported at the meeting that 47 out of the total 80 sub-items in the joint initiative have been well implemented as scheduled so far, 15 are underway, six make no progress, and work will start on 12 others in the time ahead. Do Nhat Hoang, head of the Foreign Investment Agency under the MPI, said Vietnamese ministries and agencies have coordinated with the Japanese side to implement commitments in the action plan of the initiative. Vietnam’s commitment to materialising the joint initiative manifests the government’s resolve to improve the domestic investment environment, he said. VRCS receives medical equipment, supplies from Oman
The event was attended by President of the VRCS Bui Thi Hoa, Omani Ambassador to Vietnam Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al-Suqri, and CEO of the Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) Mohammed Hamoud Said Al-Zahli. At the handover, which was witnessed by representatives of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to Vietnam Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al-Suqri and OCO’s CEO Mohammed Hamoud Said Al-Zahli handed over two ambulances, two ventilators, 20,000 N95 masks, 8,000 SPO2 meters, 8,000 protective suits, 8,000 electronic personal thermometers, and 2,000 gloves to the VRCS’s representatives. Of the sum, exports of key farm produce and forestry products reached $11.37 billion and $9.1 billion, surging 8.8 per cent and 3 per cent year-on-year, respectively, fishery products hit $5.8 billion, up 41 per cent annually, while that of livestock reached $176 million, down 16 per cent, and production input topped $1.42 billion, up 65 per cent.
