Da Nang calls for RoK’s investment in ICT A forum to promote investment in information and communications technology (ICT) in the central city of Da Nang from the Republic of Korea (RoK) was held virtually on November 30, bringing together representatives from over 200 enterprises and investors from the two countries. The event aims to introduce potential, advantages, preferential and investment support policies of Da Nang to RoK businesses and investors, especially in ICT, and high technology. Vietnamese famers have average income of 3.4 million VND/month The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the average income for farmers in 2020 was 43 million VND/year, which is equivalent to under 3.4 million VND/month. In the Draft Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for the 2021-2030 period (with a vision towards 2050), the Ministry set the goal of raising farmers’ average income and reducing poverty in a sustainable manner. By 2030, the rural population’s income would have to be 3 times higher than in 2020, and poverty rate would fall by 1-1.5 %. Since 2010, Da Nang has identified information and communication technology as one of the three strategic breakthroughs in socio-economic development. The central city of Da Nang topped the Digital Transformation Index (DTI) rankings in 2020 for localities nationwide in all three key pillars of digital government, digital economy and digital society, according to the DTI 2020 Report released several days ago by the Ministry of Information and Communications. A group of tourists, including Vietnamese and foreigners, left Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown for its coastal Can Gio District on Sunday in the first waterway tour launched by the city under its tourism recovery plan after months of suspension due to COVID-19. Besides, it has done away with its earlier requirement that they need to close before 10 p.m. Businesses can operate normally in areas with COVID-19 alert levels 1 and 2, have up to 50 per cent of covers in case of level 3 and only offer delivery and takeaway in case of level 4. All must comply with safety regulations in force locally. Local authorities have been instructed to strengthen oversight of establishments serving alcoholic beverages and severely penalise non-compliance with pandemic safety measures. Residents in Ho Chi Minh City were allowed to experience a public bicycle rental service after one of its stations was put into operation on Saturday. The station, located on the sidewalk of Le Loi Street in District 1, is among the 43 stations that the municipal authorities have designated to operate the bike sharing service. Tri Nam Group JSC, developer of the rental system, is now making the final preparations at the remaining 42 stations before a pilot phase begins on December 10, said Do Ba Quan, the firm’s chairman. These stations, each covering 10-15 square meters, are situated on the sidewalks of multiple streets in District 1 and are close to local bus stops, parks, and popular tourist destinations.
