The event was part of activities held by young people of the three countries to mark the Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Years and the 60th and 55th anniversaries of Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations respectively. Vietnam competed in the qualifying round of the tank biathlon category within the framework of the International Army Games 2022 in Moskva, Russia on Saturday, the Vietnam News Agency reported. This year’s tank biathlon event attracts the participation of 61 crews of 21 teams, divided into two groups. The first group consists of teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia, while the second is comprised of Abkhazia, Armenia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Laos, Mali, Myanmar, Syria, Sudan, Tajikistan, and South Ossetia. Teams in Group 1 will compete in the qualifying round to select the top eight to enter the semi-final round and then the best four for the final round. Situated in A Luoi District, 100 km from the town of Hue, the country’s imperial capital, the airport was built by the U.S. in the 1960s. Between August 1965 and December 1970 A Luoi District was among the places where the U.S. sprayed Agent Orange most intensively. From 1961 to 1971 the U.S. army made 19,905 sorties and sprayed 80 million liters of deadly chemicals over farmlands and forests in Vietnam. Of this, 61 percent, or 366 kilograms, was Agent Orange, a highly toxic defoliant that stays in the soil and at the bottom of lakes and rivers for generations. According to government data, around 11kg of dioxin was sprayed on A So airport. It is estimated that the chemical has percolated 0.7 m into the soil and a total of 35,000 cubic meters of land at the airport is contaminated. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 14 attended a conference reviewing the 30-year cooperation between the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (VILAR) in preserving the corpse of the late Vietnamese leader. In 1992, when the agreement between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union became invalid, with permission by the Vietnamese and Russian Governments, the Mausoleum Management Board and VILAR switched to direct cooperation in preserving the corpse of the President.
