Vietnam to reward SEA Games women’s football champions with big bucks
The Vietnamese national women’s football team have been promised more than VND10 billion (US$438,569) and a number of valuable items including a car and motorbikes in rewards following their successful title defense against Thailand at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines on Sunday. The Vietnamese women toiled in 120 minutes at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila before they could edge past Thailand, with the gold-winning goal scored in the 92nd minute. Vietnamese decorated swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien will be honoured at the closing ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games scheduled in New Clark City, the Philippines on December 11. Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien wins six gold and two silver medals at this year’s SEA Games. As the most successful athlete in the 30th SEA Games, who won the most gold medals in individual competitions, the female swimmer collected six gold medals and two silver ones, as she set out to win at least eight golds in this year’s biennial multi-sport event. Vietnamese athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh Nguyen Thi Oanh got the Vietnamese delegation off to a great day by winning a gold medal in the women’s 5,000m category in the competition’s athletics event.
