An additional 888 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Wednesday, raising the national tally to nearly 10.74 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 39 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (149), Hai Phong (88), Danang (61), Nghe An (51), Bac Ninh (50), and Yen Bai (45). As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to nearly 10.74 million. On June 22, an additional 5,657 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.62 million. The new figure brought the total number of cases in the country to 10,744,085. All of the new transmissions were domestic. The capital city of Hanoi again topped the country with 188 new cases. It was followed by northern Hai Phong and central Da Nang cities, which reported 64 and 62 infections, respectively. Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited Albertirsa City on Sunday, where he had talks with Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian parliament István Jakab, concentrating on agricultural cooperation, as part of his ongoing visit to Hungary. The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 10,748,127 since the pandemic broke out. As many as 9,694 patients were declared to be free from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,699,357. Meanwhile, the death toll related to the disease was kept at 43,047, accounting for 0.4% of the total infections. Mass biodiversity loss would slash global credit ratings, report warns
LONDON -- Major global biodiversity loss could cause enough economic damage by the end of the decade to severely cut more than half of the world's sovereign credit ratings - including China's, the first major study on the issue has warned. The research published on Thursday by a group of British universities looked a range of scenarios, including one where a partial collapse of key ecosystems savaged nature-dependent industries such as farming and fishing that some economies rely on. It estimated that the detrimental impact would result in 58% of the 26 countries studied facing at least a one notch downgrade of their sovereign credit rating. As ratings affect how much governments have to pay to borrow on the global capital markets, the downgrades would result in between $28 to $53 billion of additional interest costs annually.
