(VOV) - The government supports Vietnam-New Zealand defence cooperation, especially in naval affairs and personnel training, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said. While receiving visiting New Zealand Minister of Defence Jonathan Coleman in Hanoi on Monday, Dung lauded the result of talks between the two defence ministers, which he said will make an important contribution to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation. He noted Vietnam-New Zealand relations are developing well in all areas, bringing practical benefits to both sides, and contributing to peace, stability and development in the region. Vietnam-New Zealand education forum
New Zealand has become an attractive destination for Vietnamese pupils and students. The potential for educational cooperation between the two countries is very great. On December 4th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training held the Vietnam-New Zealand educational forum. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Gia Khiem, and nearly 200 leaders, staffs and teachers from Vietnam and New Zealand attended the forum. Speaking at the forum, Mr. Khiem said that Vietnamese government and people always take special interest in education. Now, about 18% of the total budget expense is spent on education. This rate is scheduled to increase up to 20% in 2010. Vietnam, New Zealand agree to lift relationship to comprehensive partnership

New impetus for Vietnam – New Zealand relationship
PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his New Zealander counterpart John Key showed their determination to cement and deepen the bilateral ties on the basis of stability, long term and mutual benefits. PM Nguyen Tan Dung warmly welcomed the visit of his New Zealander counterpart, especially in the context that the two countries are marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The visit, according to the Vietnamese Government chief, will add a new impetus to the bilateral ties. Both PM Dung and PM John Key were satisfied with the fine developments of the friendly ties and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, which were upgraded to a comprehensive partnership in September 2009.
