Singapore’s energy provider, SP Group, pledged to pour SGD750 million, or VND12 trillion (US$539 million), into sustainable energy projects in Vietnam by 2025, heard a press briefing on Wednesday. Stanley Huang, chief executive officer at SP Group, committed to helping Vietnam achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. “Vietnam is one of the group’s key markets. We feel encouraged by the Vietnamese government’s clear orientation in the next 10-20 years,” said Huang. According to the representative of SP Group, the group is set to support Vietnam’s effort through numerous sustainable energy projects across the country and via agreements in the commercial and industrial fields with its partners. Vietnam lead Group A in women’s football at SEA Games after crushing Cambodia
Vietnam became the leaders of Group A in women's football at the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after scoring a 7-0 victory over Cambodia on Saturday evening. Vietnam's coach Nguyen Duc Chung benched many key players and deployed his reserve line-up in the match against Cambodia at Cam Pha Stadium in northern Quang Ninh Province. Vietnam are ranking first in Group A of men’s football at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after defeating Timor Leste 2-0 in their last group-stage match in northern Phu Tho Province on Sunday evening. As Vietnam had already secured a spot in the semifinals, coach Park Hang Seo decided to deploy his reserve line-up in this game. Despite having the advantage over Timor Leste, the Golden Stars were unable to net any goal in the first half. Vietnam sacks top securities regulator for serious violations
Vietnam’s Minister of Finance has fired Tran Van Dung as chairman of the State Securities Commission (SSC) for committing serious wrongdoings during his work and assigned Finance Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi to take charge of the SSC. The dismissal was announced in a decision signed on Friday by Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc, who also said his deputy Chi would run the SSC from the same day, pending a decision of the ministry on the SSC chairmanship. The ministry also issued its warnings to Vu Bang, former chairman of the SSC, Nguyen Thanh Long, chairman of the Vietnam Stock Exchange, and Nguyen Son, chairman of the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD) for their mistakes and violations. Vietnamese athletes amassed 29 more gold medals on Sunday, bringing their 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold tally to 66, helping the hosts stay atop the medal table by the end of the competition day.
