A documentary film produced by Vietnam Television (VTV) has won United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) prize at a contest in Japan. The film Chi Gai or Sister was part of the Baby on the Way series initiated by EBS TV featuring work by South Korea, Chile, Cambodia, Thailand, Italy and Vietnam stations. A scene in the film 'Sister' The film is about the real-life difficulties of children in the mountainous province of Lao Cai. Sister was presented with the UNICEF prize at Japan Prize 2018 for its message about protecting children’s rights. 9th “Europe-Vietnam Documentary Film Festival” opens in Hanoi, HCMC
The event is co-organzie by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (DSF) along with embassies of European countries. Participating in this year’s festival are outstanding productions from countries , including France, Wallonia-Brussels (Belgium), Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, UK, Israel and Vietnam. Among Vietnamese movies are some of the winners of the Golden Lotus, the Golden Kite and the Environmental films award. Ceremony marks 45th anniversary of Vietnam Netherlands diplomatic ties
A ceremony was held in Hanoi on May 10 to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands (April 9) and five-year’s since the establishment of the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship and Cooperation Association (January 29). According to a former French foe, Vietnam deserved independence and liberation after all that it suffered. Pierre Mendes France (1907 – 82), who served as President of the Council of Ministers, whose negotiations ended French involvement in the Indochina War, said as much the night before the signing ceremony of the Paris Peace Accords in 1973. That night the French politician joined a debate with four journalists from the US and France about the agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam.
