A garment factory in Vietnam (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Several measures for developing a sustainable labour market in the post-pandemic period were suggested by many delegates on the sidelines of the Vietnam Socio-Economic Forum 2022 on September 18. Working with a team of friends, an IT major with spastic cerebral palsy developed an AI-based app that can help transcribe the voices of people with speech impairments into natural voices. He is Nguyen Duc Thuan, 20, a student from Bac Ninh Province, northern Vietnam, which is about 30 kilometers from the capital Hanoi. During his middle school years, Thuan was always ridiculed by his mischievous friends because of his neurological condition. Sometimes, he was even beaten by some children who called him 'a paralyzed boy.' "We hope the app we developed can help people with speech disabilities communicate more easily so that their lives have fewer difficulties," Thuan said. Vietnam, like many other countries with a traditionally marked New Year, also celebrates the Western end of the year with gusto and more than a bit of chaos. Although you won’t find much in the way of big celebrations for the December NYE out in the countryside, there’s a lot of fun in the major cities of the nation. Here at the end of 2018, I think a lot is going to depend on the weather. I got the impression from a lot of people that the rainy season was late in central Vietnam and might last until Tet; the official New Year holiday in Vietnam which occurs in 2019 at the beginning of February. Either way, it will be chilly enough around Da Nang and Hoi An. Probably the hardest thing is to remain relatively sober until midnight. There’s nothing worse than not remembering who you kissed at midnight and what promises you may have made… While I’m generally happy to hang out with friends on NYE, I hate large crowds myself. A cozy bar or restaurant where I can sit for a few hours is … [Read more...] about Look out, 2019!
Life as an expat in Vietnam is all about learning the local culture. However, two weekends a year I get to share my Australian culture with my local Vietnamese friends. Australian culture is very much about sport and I love being able to share my games, my culture with my Vietnamese friends. The pinnacle of the Australian sporting calendar arrives in the last weekend in September and first weekend in October. Over the next two weekends the grand finals of both the AFL and NRL will be shown live in bars across Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam, and the games promise to be memorable in many ways. AFL (Australian Football Leagues or Aussie Rules) is a game that began in Australia in 1896 and is followed by millions of people in Australia and around the world. From 18 teams at the start of the season, we are now down to the top two sides. This Saturday will see the grand final of the AFL with Sydney playing Geelong. AFL actually has a rather big following in Vietnam with many … [Read more...] about Aussies in Ho Chi Minh City, are you ready for the AFL and NRL on weekend?

Labor supply and human resource quality in key industrial parks need due attention, he added. He said … [Read more...] about Measures suggested to boost labor market sustainability
