Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam sports delegation members are ready to compete in the Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held October 6-18 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Việt Nam will have 13 athletes at the Games, playing in seven sports including badminton, gymnastics, taekwondo, dance sport, weightlifting, swimming and athletics. According to Trần Đức Phấn, Deputy Director General of Việt Nam Sports Administration, Việt Nam aim to earn at least one gold at the upcoming event, focusing on swimming, weightlifting and taekwondo. The golden hopes are taekwondo martial artist Hồ Thị Kim Ngân, who won the gold medal at the World Youth Taekwondo Championship in the women’s U-49kg and swimmer Nguyễn Huy Hoàng, who won the silver medal at the recent Asian Games in Indonesia in the men’s 1,500m. Việt Nam to promote seafood exports to Brazil
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Brazil holds a lot of potential as an export market for Việt Nam’s seafood products now and in the future, according to the Việt Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Việt Nam has become one of the three largest white-fleshed fish suppliers for Brazil, with the export value of tra fish to the market reaching US$104.7 million in 2017, up 54 per cent against 2016. The VASEP said Brazil, which has annually imported more than $1 billion in seafood products since 2012, is now one of the largest markets for Việt Nam’s tra fish. This is a highly potential market in South America for Việt Nam’s seafood products, especially tra fish, according to the association. Việt Nam, France agree to cooperate in building smart cities
Viet Nam News HCM CITY — Việt Nam and France have agreed to work together in urban development and building smart cities, with a focus on exchange of information and expertise in the fields, an official said at a Việt Nam-France Smart and Sustainable City Cooperation Forum held yesterday in HCM City. Trần Vĩnh Tuyến, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee, noted that the two countries were celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of a strategic partnership between Việt Nam and France. “Both countries will work to develop a strategic framework to seek opportunities in smart and sustainable city development in both countries,” he said. Việt Nam values business, diplomatic ties with Japan
Viet Nam always considers the Japanese business community a leading strategic partner in the process of restructuring its economy, as well as in improving the growth, quality and competitiveness of the country, said State President Tran Dai Quang at the Viet Nam Investment Promotion Conference in Tokyo on May 31. Speaking at the event, organised by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), which saw participation from representatives of some 600 Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, Quang said that Viet Nam’s consistent policy is to co-operate with Japan based on 45 years of shared interests in geography, politics and strategic economics. Viet Nam’s securities market may be upgraded to the emerging market status from its current frontier market by 2020, according to the latest SSI Retail Research. Viet Nam’s securities market has satisfied MSCI’s quantitative requirements in terms of the market size and liquidity. However, qualitative conditions will be decisive factors for an upgrade.- Photo papi.vn The local securities market has grown rapidly and reached US$191 billion in total value by the end of March 2018, equivalent to 95 per cent of the GDP (gross domestic product) in 2016 and up 24.7 per cent against 2017.
