In the final of men’s 5,000m, military athlete Nguyen Van Lai finished first in 16 minutes, 34 seconds and 12, securing a gold medal. Other gold medalists of Vietnam’s track and field team were Pham Thi Diem (women’s high jump with an achievement of 1.78m), Nguyen Tien Trong (men’slong jump – 7.80m), Nguyen Thi Huyen (women’s 400m – 52 seconds and 83). In jujitsu event, Phung Thi Hue pocketed a gold medal after defeating her Philippines rival in women’s 45kg category. Meanwhile, boxer Dao Hong Son defeated the Singaporean rival to win the gold medal in the men's 56kg category. In pétanque, players Hong Thoa and Lan Anh claimed an emphatic 13-2 victory over Malaysia’s Nurashimah Senin and Sharifah Aqilah Farhana Syed Ali to bag a gold medal for Vietnam. Quỳnh finished first with a time of 1:18.06 to get the victory, followed by Zainal Abidin Nur Assyira of Malaysia with a time of 1:22.14 and Malaysian Soon Natahsya clocking in at 1:23. At the SEA Games 30 held in the Philippines in 2019, Quỳnh also bagged the gold medal in the same category. Nguyễn Tiến Trọng, who won the long jump event on May 15 for Việt Nam in the Mỹ Đình Gymnasium, marked a golden day when he proposed to his girlfriend right after stepping off the podium. Trọng revealed the plan to some of his team members a long time before. He was determined to win the gold medal and then give his girlfriend the ring at the gymnasium. The moving moment. The lucky girl was Nguyễn Thị Phương Trinh, an athlete on the national sepak takraw team. Phương accepted the ring after returning from a match at the Hoàng Mai Gymnasium.
