Plastic firms report profit rises in Q2

(Photo courtesy of the company) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Many plastic enterprises reported increased gross profit in the second quarter of this year thanks to lower raw material prices. Binh Minh Plastics Company (BMP)’s revenue reached 1.56 trillion VND (66.7 million USD) in Q2, up 7% year-on-year. The company's profit after tax was 3.5 times higher than in the second quarter of 2021, mainly thanks to the significant improvement in gross profit margin from 12.9% to 25.1%. The business attributed the increase in profit to the decrease in the price of plastic raw materials and unchanged selling prices. Tien Phong Plastic JSC (NTP) also recorded positive business results in Q2. Specifically, revenue increased 38% to 1.72 trillion VND (73.6 million USD). Gross profit doubled to 504 billion VND. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is working on perfecting governmental Decree No.153/2020/ND-CP which regulates privately-placed corporate bond issuances. One of the highlights of the amended decree is gearing individual professional investors’ attention to bond products of better quality, mandating enhanced conditions from service providers, and adding regulations about the rights and responsibilities of market supervisory bodies. The MoF is working on perfecting regulations on corporate bond issuance and trading Accordingly, in light of the proposed amended Decree, individual professional investors need to possess a bond value touching VND1 billion ($43,470), stock investment value reaching VND2 billion ($86,950), and an account value (not using margins) maintained at least six months. Qualified banks expect higher credit growth quota in the next few months

According to the Bao Viet Securities Company (BVSC), the SBV is expected to announce a credit expansion for commercial banks at the end of Q3 2022 or at the beginning of Q4 2022 as most banks have so far used up most of their assigned credit quota. However, as the SBV has so far decided to keep the credit growth target unchanged at 14 per cent in 2022, the selection of banks to get a higher credit growth quota in the remaining months of this year will be tightened. According to the SBV’s rules, the granting of credit growth quota will be based on the asset quality and operation scale of each bank according to Circular 52/2018/TT-NHNN.
