Projected GDPs for ASEAN+3 countries. Vietnam is forecast to be the second fastest-growing economy in the region this year. (Photo amro-asia.org) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) – Vietnam is expected to come out second only to the Philippines in terms of projected GDP for 2022 and on top for 2023, according to a recent Quarterly Update of the ASEAN + 3 Regional Economic Outlook. Specifically, the country was projected to achieve a growth rate of 6.3% this year and 6.5% next year, well above the region-wide figures which were estimated at 4.3% and 4.9% respectively. Compared to the previous update, Vietnamese growth rates were revised downwards to reflect the lower growth forecasts for China and the US, its major trade partners. Lokshin made the comment on July 5 while being interviewed by Russia’s Independent newspaper at the outset of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ’s visit to Vietnam. Vietnamese and Indian businesses from the pharmaceutical sector participate in a B2B meet at the India – Viet Nam Pharmaceuticals and Health Industry Conference on July 5. — VNS Photo Thu Hang Viet Nam is seeking co-operation with India in the field of pharmaceuticals, especially manufacture of vaccines for COVID-19, a conference heard on Tuesday. India is now the third biggest supplier of pharmaceutical products to Viet Nam, Tran Ngoc Liem, general director of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s HCM City branch, told the India-Viet Nam Pharmaceuticals and Health Industry Conference. Pharmaceuticals were one of India’s key exports to Viet Nam last year at US$267 million, he said. India is ranked third globally in terms of pharmaceutical output and 14th in terms of value.
