Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has underscored that the quality of Vietnam’s national governance institutions will play a significant role in the country’s economic development, in a piece of writing released on the heels of the signing of the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) . The TPP accord, whose members include Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the U.S. and Vietnam, was signed on February 4 in Auckland, New Zealand, after its five-year negotiations were concluded in October 2015 in Atlanta. A report of the General Department of Customs showed that foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) year after year make up a higher value of xports than the domestic-invested enterprises. During an exchange in Hanoi, Mr. VS Velayutham committed to assist Vietnamese textile enterprises with textile techniques, and to provide high quality textile materials for the Vietnamese market. Over the past years, India's textile export to Vietnam has been continuous increased. In 2008, India exported to Vietnam some USD 80 million of cotton and USD 57 million of other textile materials. According to Mr. VS Velayutham, there is a lot of potential in textile trade exchange between the two countries. He affirmed that Indian companies are keen to be a part of a textile value chain by supplying all types of yarns, fabrics and accessories to Vietnam and to supplement Vietnam's garment industry.
