National university processes complaint of lecturers in Korean Studies Faculty

March 5, 2021 by sggpnews.org.vn

The task force of VNU-HCMC began its work in USSH on March 4. Therefore, in pursuance of Point C, Clause 2, Article 25 of the Press Law, USSH temporarily stops providing related information to the press.

According to Mr. Tran Nam, Head of the Communications and Public Relations Department of USSH, his university strictly observed the procedure to process a complaint, from mediation, formal dialogue, to instruction on sending an official complaint to the Management Board for a feasible solution.

However, USSH did not receive any formal complaint from concerned lecturers. Instead, these teachers directly sent their complaint to the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV). After receiving the forwarded complaint from GIV, USSH immediately established a task group to handle the case in accordance with regulation.

The 12 lecturers have then sent their complaint for the second time to GIV, which transferred it to VNU-HCMC.

USSH issued a formal criticism to the Dean of the Korean Studies Faculty for the weakness in management tasks, along with a request to adopt a proper solution to tackle this problem. The university also criticized the 11 lecturers because of their lack of respect towards USSH and certain wrong details of the objective truth in their complaint, negatively affecting the organization’s reputation.

USSH proposed to transfer these lecturers to another more suitable department, yet these people unilaterally terminated their work contract. Therefore, the university agreed to their request and offered detailed instruction on the procedure to ensure employee’s rights.

Simultaneously, USSH is hiring visiting lecturers and recruiting new ones so that the operation and training of the Faculty is properly maintained, minimizing the adverse effects of this incident on learners.

Having just one leg isn’t slowing down this successful Vietnamese entrepreneur

August 1, 2019 by tuoitrenews.vn

A woman from northern Vietnam’s mountainous region is proving that success is always achievable, regardless of the hardships life throws at a person.

When Be Thi Bang had to have a leg amputated at the age of 24, she realized she was at a crossroads.

Would she allow her disability to hold her back from her dreams or would she refuse to let it stand in the way of living her life?

Now, just eight years after losing her leg, 32-year-old Bang is the co-founder of a private dental clinic and the owner of several homestays in Hanoi.

A graduate of the Thai Nguyen University of Medicine in the namesake province, Bang spent her first few years after graduation working at a dental clinic in Hanoi.

Just a few years into her career, however, her life was derailed when she was struck by a tractor trailer on her way home from a friend’s house and had to have her leg amputated.

“I cried my eyes out,” Bang recalled.

“It wasn’t just the pain that hurt me, it was also knowing that I was disabled.”

But Bang refused to let her disability get in the way of realizing her dreams and soon began involving herself in activities that forced her to face her situation head-on.

Her first step was purchasing a pair of crutches and learning how to walk on her own, despite the countless bruises and scratches she accrued from falling hundreds of times.

Yet Bang refused to give up and, in just one month, was able to walk on her own.

“The desire to walk again really motivated me to keep moving forward,” she said with pride.

Bang returned to her hometown ten months after the accident and, by chance, found an interest in dancing.

She started with basic moves wearing flats before working her way up to more complicated styles while donning a high heel on her leg.

Even so, she kept most of her practice a secret due to fears of public criticism for her disability.

In addition to dance, Bang also took up sports courses at a local club and participated in a beauty pageant for the disabled called “Ve Dep Vang Trang Khuyet” (The Complete Beauty of The Incomplete), in which she won the championship title.

After the accident, Bang had given up on the hope of finding true love until she met a German named Oturak Be.

The two began as pen pals until they married in 2017.

“Everyone deserves true love, and so do I,” she smiled with happiness.

PM Phuc calls on combined strength for stronger national development

March 6, 2021 by vov.vn

These remarks were made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at an event known as “Dialogue 2045” with various business representatives and intellectuals at the Thong Nhat Conference Hall in Ho Chi Minh City on March 6, featuring the participation of many senior leaders.

The Government leader reviewed the achievements following nearly 35 years of pursuing the renewal process under the leadership of the Community Party of Vietnam (CPV), with the national economy enjoying positive growth. The lives of local people have been greatly improved, with the life expectancy increasing compared with advanced countries such as Japan and Singapore, with greater attention being given to a range of social and cultural issues.

PM Phuc therefore highlighted the contributions made by the local the business community to the nation over the past 35 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), expressing hope that firms can learn new ideas to transform the nation into a developed and high-income country.

The nation must be home to business giants capable of competing both regionally and globally by unlocking the potential and making use of the strengths of citizens living and working inside and outside of the country, he emphasized.

The nation must also strive to lure and promote external resources in terms of technology, knowledge, and innovation, along with building a brighter future.

Dialogue 2045 was held as part of efforts to chart a course of actions to translate the development goals through to 2045.

In line with the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, the country expects to move out of its low middle-income status by 2025.

According to the schedule, the nation will become an upper-middle income country by 2030 and gain developed and high-income nation status by 2045.

These are the key time milestones as the country prepares to mark the 50th anniversary of liberation of the South and national reunification in 2025, the 100th founding anniversary of the CPV in 2030, followed by the 100th founding anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in 2045.

PM Phuc also stated that “Dialogue 2045” will be held periodically, both via direct and online platforms, thereby covering many topics from socio-economy, the environment, culture, education, science and technology, and international integration, including national security and defence.

Hanoi sets up five more quick Covid-19 testing booths

April 3, 2020 by hanoitimes.vn

The Hanoitimes – The Hanoi Center for Disease Prevention and Control will set up quick Covid-19 testing booths in all 30 districts in the city.

The Hanoi city government has decided to set up five more rapid Covid-19 testing booths for mass testing in urban districts, VnExpress quoted Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) Khong Minh Tuan as saying.

Tuan said that the total nine booths are located in eight urban districts of Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Cau Giay, Hoang Mai, Ha Dong, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh and suburban Thanh Oai.

The Hanoi CDC will set up rapid Covid-19 testing booths in all 30 districts in the city. However, the process depends on the number of test kits to be delivered.

Besides, in face of the shortage of health workers with expertise in sampling and testing, the Hanoi CDC is organizing training courses for 800 employees.

People who will be sampled for quick testing are Covid-19 patients, caregivers, interns and those who visited Bach Mai Hospital’s canteen between March 10 and 28. About 16,000 people are subject to this category, according to statistics of the Hanoi Department of Health.

Hanoi began rapid Covid-19 testing on March 31. Quick test kits made in South Korea will be used at the booths and they will show results after 10 minutes analyzing blood samples. As of April 2 night, 1,782 people have used this testing service, six of them were positive for coronavirus but the tests came out negative when diagnosed again by Realtime RT-PCR in labs.

At the time of writing, Vietnam has recorded 233 Covid-19 patients, of them 85 have been cured and discharged from hospital. Hanoi reported 105 active coronavirus-infected cases, the largest number in the country.

Activities nationwide celebrate 70 years of patriotic emulation appeal

March 7, 2021 by en.qdnd.vn

* A meeting, held by authorities of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), saw the presence of former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Permanent Deputy-Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

In response to the appeal, over the past years, local authorities, armed forces and people have made efforts in emulation work to gain considerable achievements in the struggle for national liberation and during the national construction and development cause. A number of the city’s emulation models has been replicated in other localities nationwide.

At the event, Permanent Deputy-PM Truong Hoa Binh handed over the “Emulation” Flag of the Government to 12 groups while the city granted certificates of merit to other 278 groups and individuals with outstanding task performance records in the 2015-2018 period.

* Addressing a ceremony in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, Vice-State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh hailed locals for their efforts in responding to patriotic emulation.

In the coming times, she asked the province to further develop the socio-economy, pay due attention to supporting local ethnic minority groups and needy people in rural and mountainous areas, reduce poverty in an inclusive and sustainable manner, enhance environmental protection, maintain defense-security and social order and multiply good examples in villages and residential quarters.

* The provinces of Long An and Ha Tinh have also held similar meetings to celebrate the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s call for patriotic emulation.

* On June 9, the Ministry of Education and Training, in association with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and HCMC-based Nguyen Tat Thanh University, held the final round of the contest “Youths learn and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s thought and moral example”.

Launched on March 23, the contest targeted two groups of high school and college students. After the rounds of multiple-choice questions and writing, the organization panel selected the top 30 contestants in each group for the final.

* The Museum of Military Region 1 is running an exhibition displaying over 200 photos and items to highlight the importance of the appeal in the country’s contemporary history as well as achievements of the region’s armed forces and people in response to the appeal.
