To Lam on August 10 stressed the need for each individual to protect personal information, especially on the cyberspace, when responding to deputies’ queries regarding the disclosure and sale of personal information on social networks at a Q&A session during the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee’s 14th meeting. Lam said that the problem of personal information disclosure in the world and Vietnam is alarming, while the legal corridor on this issue has not been completed, and people's awareness of personal information protection remains low. Thailand moves to attract investors

(Source: Bangkok Post) Bangkok (VNA) - The Thai Government on August 9 approved the allocation of 165ha of land in the Eastern Airport City project to create a free-trade zone within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), in a bid to attract investors and businessmen. As reported by the Bangkok Post, speaking after a weekly cabinet meeting, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the free-trade zone will not be restricted by large numbers of laws and regulations, with waivers on customs tariffs and other import measures on offer. The area will also feature other activities and recreation facilities to support 24-hour services, including five-star hotels, shopping malls, duty-free shops, Michelin-starred restaurants, exhibition and convention halls, and entertainment services, the PM said. Ministry of Public Security seeks stronger cooperation with U.N. agencies

At a reception for the U.N. Resident Coordinator in Hanoi on August 9, Lam noted that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has always coordinates closely with U.N. agencies in crime prevention and control, gender equality promotion and security, even amid the COVID-19 spread. The minister briefed the U.N. official on coordination between the ministry and U.N. Women in improving the leadership capacity for women and fighting violence against women, as well as the establishment of its relations with the U.N. Office of Counter-Terrorism in aviation security. He said the ministry will officially send officers to U.N. peacekeeping operations this year, and will work to ensure the sex ratio among the officers as recommended by the UN, viewing the international mission as a regular, long-term task of the Vietnamese police force.
