(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee concluded its law-making session on August 18 under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. Addressing the function, Hue stressed that over four days, the committee has completed the agenda for the session, making comments on eight bills and one resolution project containing legal regulations. The bills included five draft laws to be submitted to the NA for approval at the upcoming 4th session, slated for October. They are the Law on Petroleum (amended), the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised), the Law on Inspection (amended), the Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level, and the law amending and supplementing articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies. Besides, the People’s Committees of localities are required to direct People’s Committees of the district level to assign and arrange officers and officials to receive, appraise and approve documents and timely deliver the support to contract workers as regulated. Minister of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung stated that the localities had to complete the support by August 30. In addition, the ministry assigned the Department of Employment to arrange working teams to check the late disbursement of the financial support in localities; and the localities have been required to send reports on the spending progress every three days. Full-time legislators look into draft law on implementing democracy at grassroots levels
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the N.A.’s Committee for Legal Affairs Hoang Thanh Tung said following feedback, the draft law now has 7 chapters and 79 articles, up 5 articles from the version submitted at the N.A.’s third meeting. It also upholds the role of every citizen in overseeing activities of officials and cadres to uncover and fight corruption and negative behaviors, optimize democracy, and increase public responsiveness in the implementation of democracy at grassroots levels, he said. Regulations on the establishment of people’s inspection committees at all grassroots levels were also mentioned in the draft law to ensure fairness in the non-State sector. Czech writer wins Vietnamese national information service award
The collection of Czech-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Czech poems are edited by Sys and writer and translator Do Ngoc Viet Dung (Do.honza), also a writer, co-authored a collection of poems by Czech and Vietnamese poets. The 762-page bilingual book, which includes works of many famous poets namely To Huu, Xuan Dieu, and Jaroslav Seifert, was honored at the 7th National Foreign Press Award. It was published by the Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House. The Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Embassy held a ceremony on August 17 to present the award to the Czech writer. Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung appreciated Sys’s contribution to popularising Vietnamese culture and literary works in the Czech Republic, helping promote the relationship between the two countries.
