Scanning QR Traceable Code. — Photo baochinhphu.vn HCM City plans to issue a list of goods with traceability codes with a goal to have at least 50 per cent of businesses in multiple sectors, such as vegetables, livestock, food and medicine, be able to exchange data with the traceability code system in Viet Nam and the world. Nguyen Thi Kim Hue, deputy director of HCM City Department of Science and Technology, said that traceability is a matter that consumers have great concerns for besides a product’s standards and quality. Farmers transport lemongrass in Tan Phu Dong district. — Photo baotintuc.vn Lemongrass farmers in Tien Giang Province’s Tan Phu Dong District have gained huge profits thanks to a surge in crop prices. From the beginning of 2022, Tan Phu Dong farmers have seeded 2,000ha of lemongrass and harvested 11,250 tons of lemongrass, leading to profits of over VND50 million (US$2,150) for each hectare of lemongrass. Director of the Tan Phu Dong District’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Van Hai, said the district consists of a cluster of islands adjacent to the East Sea with harsh natural conditions, frequent drought and saltwater intrusion. Sumitomo Forestry America has invested billions of dollars into the US market and owns many real estate and construction companies. The company planned to launch thousands of housing products in the US. According to An Cuong, the cooperation was expected to help it earn tens of millions of US dollars per year. Thanh Cong Textile Garment - Investment – Trading JSC in Tan Phu District is in need of more than 1,000 workers. The employees are to make up for those that have already submitted their resignation and to serve the company’s plan to expand 20 of its branches in various cities and provinces. Yet the company has had trouble recruiting new employees unwilling to work on assembly lines and deal with the pressure of meeting product quality and quantity. Nguyen Huu Tuan, the firm’s human resource manager, said the textile-garment sector is no longer attractive to laborers. He said "a significant number" of staff at the company has either quit or is about to, without revealing the specific figure. According to GSO, the country's socio-economic development in the first six months of 2022 has prospered in most industries and fields, especially processing and manufacturing industry ; retail sales of consumer goods and services; and exports. The agriculture-forestry-fishery sector increased 3%, contributing 4.5% to the overall growth of the economy. The industry and construction sector was up 8.9%, making up 46.8%, while the service sector rose by 8.6 percent, contributing 48.6 percent to the general GDP growth. In the January – June period, the country's GDP grew by 6.4%, higher than 2% and 5.7% growth rates of the same periods in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
