Vietnamese representative Phung Truong Tran Dai officially unveiled an outfit that she will wear during the National Costume Competition at the Miss International Queen 2022 pageant set to take place in June in Thailand. The outfit has been designed by Nguyen Minh Triet and draws inspiration from the motifs of rice, storks, cranes, sun, and Ao Dai, the nation’s traditional long dress Most notably, the highlight of the design is the headdress which takes its inspiration from the sun. The costume is primarily comprised of silk and aims to honour the beauty of Vietnamese women. Vietnam beat their Thai rivals 1-0 on Sunday night to win the gold medal in men’s football for the second time in a row at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Despite the rainy weather, fans arrived at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi very early to cheer for the junior Golden Stars. The Vietnamese under-23 team staged a series of attacks to pressure their Thai peers in the very first minutes of the match. Striker Nguyen Tien Linh had a chance to open the scoring for Vietnam in the 19th minute, but his header was not powerful enough to defeat Thai goalie Kawin Thamsatchanan. National carrier Vietnam Airlines remained in the red in the first quarter of this year, with losses of nearly US$113 million, despite its revenue rising to a two-year high. The airline posted a loss of VND2.621 trillion ($112.9 million) over the first three months of 2022, according to its Q1 consolidated financial statements issued on Friday. The loss was recorded even though the flag carrier logged revenue of more than VND11.6 trillion ($500 million) in the period, up 55 percent year on year, the highest performance since the second quarter of 2020, when COVID-19 began to severely affect Vietnam’s aviation industry. The impressive revenue failed to cover the total cost that was higher than expected, leading to the firm’s ninth consecutive quarterly loss, the carrier said. Indonesia won the men's football bronze by beating Malaysia in penalty shootout. Muay and diving each won five gold medals on Sunday. Vietnam also won three boxing gold during the day in three women's events. Aerobic gymnastics brought two gold medals in mix pair and group events, and esports another two.
