One person was killed and another injured in a wall collapse that took place during the demolition of a house in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday. The accident occurred at a house on Dang Nguyen Can Street in Ward 14, District 6 at around 8:25 am on Sunday, according to preliminary information. A group of workers were demolishing the house to prepare for the construction of a new one when a big wall collapsed and buried two people. Real estate prices in Ho Chi Minh City skyrocketed during the second quarter of this year to hit record highs, with some villas in the city currently on sale for VND700 billion (US$30 million), according to statements given at a conference on Tuesday. At the 'Money Flow and Real Estate Trends in Late 2022' conference hosted by Cafeland , a real estate website, Vo Huynh Tuan Kiet, director of housing project marketing at CBRE Vietnam, shared that houses and villas in urban areas in the east of the city are currently on the market for prices ranging from VND200 million ($8,580) to $400 million ($17,200) per square meter. The Energy Observer, the world’s first hydrogen-powered and zero-emission vessel, is currently on a stopover in Ho Chi Minh City as part of its five-year global odyssey. The ship arrived at Khanh Hoi Port in District 4 on June 18 and is expected to stay in the southern Vietnamese metropolis until June 29. Ho Chi Minh City health authorities have requested that 10 districts prepare to reactivate their COVID-19 treatment facilities as cases are predicted to soar if the Omicron BA.5 sub-variant appears in the city.
