To realise this goal, farmers are focusing on speeding up the digital transformation, considering it a strategic solution to enhancing the production, quality and competitiveness of agricultural products in domestic and international markets. Dam Ha trade and construction company in Dam Ha district has invested more than 15 billion VND (647,250 USD) to building hydroponic greenhouse vegetable and melon farms, betting on high-tech hydro-growing operations to promote clean agriculture, cut workloads, and standardise quality. Food crisis fuels fears of protectionism compounding shortages

DAVOS, Switzerland -- A growing world food crisis is precipitating protectionist moves by countries which are likely to compound the problem and could lead to a wider trade war, business leaders and policymakers at the World Economic Forum said. In a sign of the escalating squeeze on food supplies and rising prices, a government source told Reuters that India could restrict sugar exports for the first time in six years to prevent a surge in domestic prices. Meanwhile Indonesia, the world's biggest palm oil exporter, will remove a subsidy on bulk cooking oil and replace it with a price cap on the raw materials for local refiners. "It is a major issue, and frankly I think the problem is even bigger ahead of us than it is behind us," Gita Gopinath, first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, told Reuters of rising food security concerns. World Record awarded to Đồng Tháp Lotus Festival

Some 200 dishes made from lotus on display at the Đồng Thap Lotus Festival 2022. — VNA/VNS Photo Nguyễn Văn Trí HCM CITY — The World Records Union (WorldKings) and the Việt Nam Records Organisation (Vietkings) have recognised the first Đồng Tháp Lotus Festival 2022 as the world's largest event of lotus-based dishes. The World Record has been awarded to the Mekong Delta province of Đồng Tháp for hosting the largest event on the processing and presentation of 200 lotus-based dishes. A WorldKings decision on the recognition has also been presented to the provincial People's Committee. Boasting large lotus growing areas and rich culinary culture, Đồng Tháp organised the festival to introduce domestic and foreign friends to various Vietnamese specialities through the country's culinary quintessence in general and the locality in particular. Hanoi strengthens consumption stimulus programmes

Hanoi is implementing a series of promotional programmes for 2022, focusing on May, July and November at more than 2,000 sales points of businesses. Notably, the businesses have registered more than 10,000 promotion programmes with the Department of Industry and Trade in May, worth nearly 20 trillion VND. In July and November, Hanoi expects to have about 25,000 promotion programmes.
