The event was launched in celebration of the 132nd birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1989 - 2022) and the World Environment Day (June 5). One hundred and twenty outstanding photos were selected from 5,000 entries of professional and amateur photographers in the whole military for the exhibition. The organizing panel handed over one special, three first, ten second, 20 third, 31 consolation and 40 potential prizes to outstanding photos. Outstanding photos include “Chemical troops make great efforts for green environment to develop sustainably” by Vuong Minh Hung from the Chemical Corps, or “For a green Vietnam” by Ngo Viet Trung from the People’s Army Newspaper. During the course, trainees were equipped with contents on carrying out criminal investigation and dealing with administrative violation, basic knowledge in the fight against human trafficking, preventing and fighting drug-related crimes, and investigating progresses and policies for border guards in charge of reconnaissance tasks. Senior Colonel Dao Viet Hung, Commanding Officer of the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command, underlined the complicated crime situation along the shared border, especially in the fields of deforestation, illegal forest land violation, drug smuggling and using, illegal exit-entry, and border regulation violation. The agreement was reached during the meeting between Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and his Cambodian counterpart General Tea Banh at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND) on May 23. During the visit, Senior Colonel Le Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command, briefed the delegation on the unit’s task performance over the past time. A representative of the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health was quoted on the government news portal as saying monkeypox was usually zoonotic, but human-to-human transmission was possible through contact with wounds, bodily fluids and contaminated objects. To detect possible cases of monkeypox and promptly roll out response plans, the health ministry has asked local health departments to detect possible cases at the border, especially among those coming from countries where monkeypox is present: Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone and South Sudan. Medical facilities should also increase surveillance and if possible cases of monkeypox are detected, they must be reported to health departments for follow up action.
