Some costumes able to be found in the North include the H’Mong ethnic minority group’s brocade one or the Red Dao ethnic minority group’s costume with the domination of the red color. Exhibition highlighting ASEAN’s cultural colours opens in Hanoi
Objects showcased at the exhibition (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – To celebrate the 55th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (August 8), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the embassies of the ASEAN countries in Vietnam, opened an exhibition themed “ASEAN Cultural Colours” on August 8. The event, held at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum on Hanoi’s Nguyen Thai Hoc street, is showcasing traditional costumes of ASEAN countries, as well as photos featuring their landscapes, cultures, and peoples, with a hope to popularise a diverse and rich ASEAN culture. Communal house built for Mang ethnic people
Speaking at the event, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee Nguyen Hai Minh called on youths and local people to join the “Footsteps for the community” program to raise fund for the construction of the communal house. He emphasized that participating in the event will not only help raise public health, but also uphold and promote the communal tradition of ethnic minority groups. The sixth stage of the “Footsteps for the community” program will take place from August 6 to 28 in 63 provinces and cities across the country. The program targets to mobilize at least 1 million km of walking/running, equivalent to a donation of VND 1 billion, to support the building of a communal house for the Mang ethnic people in Nam Pi commune, Nam Nhun district. Vietnamese exports to Nordic markets thrive
General Department of Vietnam Customs’ data showed that the bilateral trade reached US$1.03 billion in the first four months of 2022 (up 15 percent from the same period of 2021), including US$689.13 million worth of Vietnamese exports (up 19.2 percent) and US$342.16 million worth of Vietnamese imports (up 7.3 percent). Food prices ease at HCM City supermarkets
Food prices have decreased at supermarkets in HCM City, but not traditional markets. — VNA/VNS Photo The sharp fall in fuel prices has caused the prices of goods such as vegetables and meats to decrease in HCM City supermarkets. Petrol prices have fallen four times since June 21 and by a total of 22 per cent, bringing cheer to the public and businesses again by reversing a long period of rise. Fuel prices have decreased to January levels, with E5 petrol now costing VND24,629 per litre, RON95 costing VND25,608 and diesel costing below VND25,000 per litre. The prices of a number of fresh food products, including meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, and fruits, have fallen by 10 per cent at Big C supermarket. Some such as chicken wings and feet, frozen salmon and basa fish are another 5 per cent cheaper if customers buy three kilogrammes or more.
