Customers who successfully issued a SeATravel card will receive 3,000 Lotusmiles bonus miles that can be used to redeem airline tickets and upgrade services, along with the privilege of discount airfares when purchasing on the Vietnam Airlines website, which offers a 40 per cent discount for economy class and 20 per cent for business class from June 15 to December 31, 2022. Cashless payments still booming after pandemic

However, non-cash payments , encouraged during the pandemic to limit contact, have become popular among many people. The pandemic accelerated this payment form towards a cashless society as oriented by the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). According to a survey recently conducted by digital payment giant VISA, 65% of Vietnamese are carrying less cash in their wallets and one-third say they will stop using cash after the pandemic. Almost 76% of the consumers now use mobile wallets and even more (82%) use cards. VISA also pointed out that online shopping and cash alternatives are all likely to stay on after the pandemic. Two-thirds of Vietnamese tried shopping online during the pandemic and half of them made their first purchase through social networks. Da Nang residents try out digital payment methods at cashless fair

The Cashless Ride program, as a part of this year’s Cashless Day, organized a fair in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Sunday to introduce digital payment methods to local residents. The event attracted many residents and tourists, especially young people. Participants had an opportunity to experience cashless payment technologies as well as play games and win prizes offered by the program’s partners, namely NAPAS, Sacombank, MBBank, HDBank, VNPT Money, SHB, and Nam A Bank. The fair was an activity organized by the Cashless Ride, one of the programs within the framework of this year’s Cashless Day. The day has been marked annually on June 16 since 2019 by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the State Bank of Vietnam. HCMC completes first phase of developing shared databases

DoIC is working with World Bank to host a conference on developing a data strategy for HCMC from 2022-2025 https://data.hochiminhcity.gov.vn . The accessible databases here include electronic version of official documents and information on businesses and household businesses, secured transactions, house use right or land use right registration, hospitals, job certificates, schools and universities, educational services, foreign investment projects, public investment projects, market prices of essential commodities. Lan to represent Vietnam at world athletics championships

Collectius acquires more than $800 million of non-performing loans in Vietnam

The deal, which includes a combination of credit cards and personal loans, represents the largest single acquisition made by Collectius to date and signifies a growing need for debt restructuring solutions in the country as loan defaults become more common. The NPLs were a joint acquisition by Collectius and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Both parties partnered in 2020 to launch the $60 million Distressed Asset Recovery Platform Programme that focuses on the acquisition and resolution of distressed assets across emerging markets. This programme helped many customers across the region meet their financial obligations and regain creditworthiness. IFC is also a minority equity shareholder in Collectius.
