On August 12, the Danang People's Committee in collaboration with State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV) held a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce Danang’s investment climate. The event attracted overseas Vietnamese to participate online from 19 countries and territories including the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia, Germany, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, England, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary, Thailand, and Mongolia. The event also saw the participation of 100 enterprises run by Vietnamese abroad. At the seminar, Do Thi Quynh Tram, deputy director of the Investment Promotion and Support Department shared a report about Danang’s strategies for development and called for investment in the city. Visitors at the event (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – The 14th Saigon Autotech & Accessories 2018 opened on May 24 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City with 300 booths organised by leading domestic and foreign firms in automobile and motorbike, spare part and accessories manufacturing. Addressing the opening ceremony, Pham Tuan Anh, Vice Director of the Department of Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that the event is a good chance to connect manufacturers, suppliers and service providers and customers. The exhibition is hoped to create an opportunity to introduce latest products, technology and equipment in the field, he said. Anh held that support industry for Vietnam’s automobile sector has been initiated, but still can supply simple parts with low technology ratio. DXCenter is holding an event to introduce digital transformation solutions to needy businesses At present, DXCenter is working with the HCMC Department of Science and Technology to deal  for a suitable location inside the city’s Innovation Building at the address of 123 Truong Dinh Street of District 3. As to the low level of cooperation between DXCenter and state agencies, departments in HCMC, the Director shared that all activities of the center are in accordance with policies and directions of the city via the two departments of Science & Technology, Information & Communications. While these departments mainly focus on upgrading public services and establishing a digital government in the city, DXCenter concentrates more on aiding businesses in their digital transformation process. An overview of the seminar (Photo: VNA) Vientiane (VNA) – The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Laos and Vietnam co-organised a seminar on economic diplomacy in Vientiane on August 17. Speaking at the event, Nguyen Minh Hang, Assistant to the Minister, Director of the economic affairs department, said that the Vietnam ese Foreign Ministry identifies economic diplomacy as one of the basic and central tasks of a comprehensive and modern diplomacy, and a driving force for the development of the country. The ministry is willing to share assessments and opinions on the world economic situation and emerging issues, as well as experience in developing economic diplomacy with Laos.
