This is meant to protect the environment, adapt to climate change and improve people’s livelihoods, according to the coastal province’s Forest Protection Sub-department. The province plans to plant 2.1 million trees in the 2021-25 period, 1.1 million in urban and rural areas and the rest in 372ha of forests. Nguyen Vu Phuong, head of the sub-department, said 200,000 trees would be planted in forests every year. Tra Vinh is one of the delta’s provinces hardest hit by climate change , especially rising sea levels, which have impacted the environment and the lives of people living in coastal areas. Mekong Delta should adopt digitisation in agriculture: experts

(Photo: VNA) Tra Vinh (VNA) - The embrace of digitisation is necessary to cope with saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta , experts have said. The delta, the country’s largest rice, fruit and seafood producer, is affected by saltwater intrusion from the sea up rivers every year in the dry season. Nguyen Hieu Trung, deputy rector of Can Tho University, said the delta has been affected by climate change in recent years, especially by drought and worsening saltwater intrusion which cause severe damage to agriculture. Speaking at a seminar in Tra Vinh Province earlier this week, he said it should take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution to create new value for agricultural production. In Binh Thuan Province, the total amount of ash and slag from thermal power plants stagnant in storage yards has reached about 12 million tons by the beginning of 2022. Meanwhile, the total amount of fly ash and slag at the Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant, built in 2015 in Tra Vinh Province, is roughly 3.67 million tons. From the time it was put into operation until the end of April 2022, the total amount of fly ash and slag generated by the Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant was 7.88 million tons, and about 4.2 million tons were reused. Feed prices to increase in July

Koji Inoue, general director of the Kyodo Sojitz Animal Feed LTD has informed his agents about imminent price adjustments. Specifically, the company planned to raise prices of its feed for piglets by VND400 per kilo and feed for other livestock by VND300 per kilo from July 1. It underscored volatile input costs as the main reason behind the decision. CJ Vina Agri LTD followed suit with identical adjustments. CJ Vina Agri said it had to raise feed prices to offset higher input costs since input materials have been fluctuating widely price-wise.
