A tour to explore the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail and some other war-time battlegrounds will hopefully be the new tourist attraction for the central city of Danang, announced the city's department of tourism. Ho Chi Minh Trail, also called Truong Son Trail, was an elaborate system of mountain and jungle trails linking North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos during the anti-US resistance war of Vietnam. The trail system includes paths for troops and vehicles, with a total length of nearly 20,000km along the Truong Son Mountains. Tourists will travel along the stretch from Danang to the neighboring province of Quang Tri of the trail. On the way, they can visit several historic sites such as the Truong Son Cemetery, the Quang Tri Citadel (built in 1824), the Vinh Moc Tunnels, the Ta Con Military Airport. With many popular attractions in the famous â€œcity of flowersâ€ critically damaged due to bad planning and shoddy conservation work, Da Lat needs urgent steps to revive its sagging tourism industry. A conference in this famous resort town heard Tuesday that lower prices and improved services have to be offered to entice more tourists. Deputy Chairman of Lam Dong Province Peopleâ€™s Committee, Truong Van Thu, said local tourist agencies have to discount prices by at least 20 percent in three sections â€" hospitality, transportation and admission fees to major tourist attractions.
