A seminar on Vietnam tourism promotion was held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo on April 21st, as part of the Indochina Tourism Promotion Forum (ITPF). Addressing the seminar, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, Chu Tuan Cap, announced that Vietnam has completely controlled the bird flu epidemic. This is important information for Japanese tourists who are interested in travelling to Vietnam. During the seminar, participants pointed out the advantages as well as disadvantages in Vietnam's tourism promotion program. They also discussed measures to further promote quality tourism services in Vietnam. This year, expenditure for tourism promotion work is scheduled to be about 20 billion VND, lower than last year, said Mr. Pham Huu Minh, Director of Tourism Promotion Department under the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNTA). The expenditure is equivalent to that of Thailand in its ITB fair in Germany. Last year, the total supported expenditure was about 23 billion VND, involving 7 billion VND for the supplemental APEC project. While the Vietnamese tourism sector set a target of greeting about 4-4.4 million foreign tourists and 23-24.4 million domestic tourists in 2007, obtaining a total social revenue of 56,000 billion VND. (CPV)- Cua Lo, the major economic area of Nghe An Province, in 2006, strived to overcome difficulties and carried out well the yearly target. Of this, the locality defined tourism and service as a spearhead economic sector. With favorable conditions in tourism, especially sea tourism, over the past few years, Cua Lo promoted its strengths. In 2006 alone, the total local production value reached 732.8 billion VND, including 380.6 billion VND from tourism and service, an increase of 20.5 percent against 2005. The programme is tailored to accelerate advertisement of Vietnam's special tourism destinations, localities, products and services in foreign countries. The Prime Minister has given green light to the 2013-20 national tourism promotion programme, highlighting promotion and advertisement on its diverse and unique culture, its stunning landscapes and wonderful cuisine. According to the Vietnam Government Portal, the programme is tailored to accelerate advertisement of Vietnam's special tourism destinations, localities, products and services in foreign countries. The programme also aims to increase the number of international arrivals; expand guests' stay; and increase their spending in Vietnam.
