PANO – The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has held a seminar on tourism promotion in four countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos with participation of leaders and representatives from these four countries’ tourism sector. The participants worked out programs and measures to develop tourism in these four countries and agreed with Vietnam’s initiative to produce advertising films “Four countries – One destination” on tourism potentials of the four countries. The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has just launched their tourism promotion program for 2011- 2012. The provincial tourism sector will present new tours, events and a choice of favorite destinations to visit during 2012. The 2012 National Tourism theme has been titled 'Vietnam's heritage- secret of discovery'. This event will take place in Hue throughout the year. Hue's tourism industry is cooperating with neighboring cities and provinces to lure overland tourists from Thailand and other countries. Vietnam’s tourism authority has announced the new slogan and symbol for the nation’s tourism promotion program for the period 2012-2015. The Saigon Times Daily spoke with Nguyen Van Tuan, head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), on plans to promote the new slogan and the local tourism industry. The Saigon Times Daily: Can you tell us about specific activities to promote tourism after the new slogan and new symbol were publicized? - Nguyen Van Tuan: We have prepared a development strategy until 2020 and a vision towards 2030 that has been approved by the Prime Minister. One of the top priorities of the strategy is to build a brand for Vietnam’s tourism, and thus promotion activities will be accelerated to meet new development demands.
