The delegation includes Vietnam's number one cueist Tran Quyet Chien (billiards), Hoang Thi Phuong Giang, Duong Thuy Vi and Pham Quoc Khanh (wushu), Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat (muay Thai) and the women's beach handball team. At the previous event hosted in Poland in 2017, Vietnam scored one gold medal thanks to muay athlete Bui Yen Ly. This year's event will take place from July 7 to 17 in Birmingham, Alabama, the U.S., having been delayed one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It features 30 sports in 54 disciplines. 17 VN universities in global list with best academic achievements
The University Ranking by Academic Performance, a Turkish non-profit organisation URAP, has honoured 17 Vietnamese universities for their outstanding academic performance globally. Top 10 Vietnamese universities in the global list with best academic achievements Among the honoured institutions, Ton Duc Thang University was ranked 427th, Duy Tan University 446th, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City 1,013rd, and Vietnam National University in Hanoi 1,104th. Notably, Duy Tan and Ton Duc Thang universities were named in the top 500 globally. Last year, Vietnam had 12 universities in the URAP’s list. This year, the URAP ranked more than 3,000 good universities in the world. Vietnamese Gov’t targets GDP growth of 7% in 2022
Vietnam’s economy has been firm on the recovery track, with the GDP growth in the second quarter at 7.72% year-on-year, the highest second-quarter growth since 2011. Based on Vietnam’s economic performance in the first six months of the year and expectations for the remainder of 2022, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) expected the economic expansion rate may hit 7% this year, 0.5 percentage points higher than the Government’s target of 6.5%.
