HCMC to begin e-toll collection in July By Le Anh A view of An Suong-An Lac Station - PHOTO: IDICO HCMC – An Suong-An Lac Station in Binh Tan District will begin electronic toll collection (ETC) in July, according to a representative of Infrastructure Development Investment Joint Stock Company (IDICO) as operator of the toll station. The company has signed an agreement with ETC system provider VETC to set up automated toll collection at the station, following which, it will be applied at other stations citywide. These systems not only help drivers pay fares without stopping but also help investors save costs on printing tickets and providing maintenance services. Cuong said at a press conference held in Long An Province on June 7 that the date for kicking off toll collection remained undecided. Long An Province Department of Transport director Nguyen Van Hoc said toll fees would range from VND25,000 to VND165,000 per time, from VND750,000 to VND4.95 million per month and from VND2.02 million to VND13.36 million per quarter. Cars under 12 seats, trucks of less than two tons and buses will be charged VND35,000 per trip while vehicles of 12-30 seats and trucks of four tons will pay VND50,000 per trip. Vehicles of more than 31 seats and trucks from 4 to 10 tons are subject to a toll of VND75,000. Trucks weighing from 10 to 18 tons and 20-feet container trucks will be subject to a toll of VND120,000 per crossing. Trucks of over 18 tons and 40-feet container trucks will be levied the highest fee of VND180,000. The SAV said in a 2017 auditing report submitted to the National Assembly that the Ministry of Transport has implemented a total of 75 traffic infrastructure projects through the public-private partnership (PPP) since 2002. PM urges quick disclosure of electronic toll collection roadmap at BOT projects
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc urged the Ministry of Transport to quickly make public the roadmap for installation of non-stop toll collection systems at Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) road projects.
