Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) may overcome Vietjet to become the investor of the expansion project of Dien Bien Phu Airport. ACV is submitting a rival bid to Vietjet to expand Dien Bien Phu Airport According to a recent document published by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), Minister Nguyen Van The asked the Committee for Management of State Capital (CMSC) to assign ACV to submit a detailed expansion plan for Dien Bien Phu Airport. It was late afternoon in mid-March 1954, and somewhere overhead an aeroplane was buzzing about. It had no chance of sighting the dozen or so bamboo and thatch huts that made up the little village. Much of the jungle had been cleared away – but the smooth pillars of giant iron-woods and other jungle denizens supported a thick canopy of inter-woven broad-leaved creepers, nature's most perfect camouflage net flung over the village. Tourists visit A1 Hill, the site of a fierce fight in Dien Bien Phu valley (Source: VNA) Dien Bien (VNA) – The People’s Committee of the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien has approve a project to upgrade a number of relic sites on the former battlefield of the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign as the 65th anniversary of the victory nears (May 7, 1954-2019). From late 2018 to early 2019, the local cultural sector also conducted maintenance work on the Muong Thanh bridge, the A1 Hill and the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument. The Dien Bien Phu Campaign lasted from March to May 1954 under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Its victory on May 7, 1954 led to the signing of the 1954 Geneva Accords in which France agreed to withdraw its forces from its colonies in Indochina.
