Tran The Cuong, Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, said on August 12 that during 2021 - 2025, Hanoi plans to invest over VND 20.9 trillion (USD 893 million) in 653 education and training projects. As of June, the capital had 2,835 schools with 70,199 classes, over 2.2 million students, 138,000 teachers, and 72,796 classrooms. About 64.3% of schools citywide met national standards, with public schools accounting for 79%. Authorities have paid attention to developing educational infrastructure, the official went on, adding that this year, the sector will also push ahead with measures for further improving educational quality. Hanoi to spend nearly $3.9ml on overseas training for public officials
The capital city will give priority to young cadres or female cadres. Hanoi has made a plan to spend nearly VND90 billion (US$3.9 million) to train public servants in developed countries, according to the municipal People’s Committee. The committee said early this week that its overseas training project will focus on refreshing and enhancing professional knowledge and skills for around 500 cadres, civil servants, and public employees from the city’s six departments during the 2022-25 period. These departments need to make detailed plans for their qualified employees to take such refresher courses in Australia, Germany, France, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, the US and among others, the committee added.
