Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie has called for spectators to vote for the most impressive national costume which she will then wear at Miss Universe 2018 scheduled for December in Thailand. The voting period will last until November 5. All of the outfits are made by amateur designers. A national costume themed “Banh Mi” (Vietnamese Bread) by designer Pham Phuoc Dien takes inspiration from the classic Vietnamese style sandwich. Ninety contestants competed to show off their national costume in the Philippines on October 11. They were divided into 5 groups with the Vietnamese beauty Phuong Khanh slotting into the Asia and Oceania Group. Phuong Khanh shines in an elegant sparkling suit and wears a head dress decorated with roses. In the Asia and Oceania group, Vietnamese girl Phuong Khanh took the gold medal, she was followed by runners up from Thailand (L) and the host, the Philippines (R). Vietnamese representative Dieu Linh has unveiled the Mong ethnic costume which she will wear for the national costume competition at the Miss Tourism Queen International 2018 pageant in Thailand. Mong ethnic costume to be introduced at Miss Tourism Queen International According the Vietnamese representative, apart from Ao dai, Vietnam has a rich variety of other colourful outfits to be introduced to the world, and the traditional clothing of the Mong ethnic group are among them. For this reason, she selected the outfit, which takes inspiration from the traditional costumes of the Mong ethnic minority group, for introduction at the international playground.
