Techfest 2019 is a part of the project ‘Supporting the national innovative startup ecosystem until 2025’ (Project 844) approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No.844/QD-TTg. In this event, Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh shared that the strategic and critical role of startup ecosystems has been widely recognized in several formal governmental documents such as Resolution No.05-NQ/TW about major policies to reform growth models and improve working performance as well as national competitiveness, Resolution No.23-NQ/TW about directions on preparing policies for the national industrial development until 2030 with vision to 2045, Resolution No.52-NQ/TW about policies to actively participate in Industry 4.0. US$14 million invested in start-ups at Techfest
Around 14 million USD in investment was pledged during the national innovative start-up day, Techfest 2019, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province. MultiGlass was the winner of Techfest's start-up contest this year. A series of seminars were organised by 12 technology villages during the three-day event, attracting 250 foreign investors and experts, and nearly 300 start-ups. The first prize in the National Innovation Talent Contest for Start-ups was awarded to MultiGlass, a start-up providing smart technology to help people with disabilities use computers. The smart communication device combines iris recognition technology and Artificial Intelligence. MultiGlass will represent Vietnam at the Start-up World Cup 2020 in San Francisco, the US. TechFest to unlock potential of startups
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam speaking at the opening ceremony of TechFest TechFest is the biggest annual event for the startup community, organised in accordance with the scheme on supporting the national innovative startup ecosystem to 2025, which was approved by the prime minister in 2016. During the past four years, the annual TechFest events have covered numerous economic sectors, uncovering opportunities and unclogging bottlenecks. Themed “Vietnam: Globalise”, TechFest 2019 aimed to attract resources, manpower, technology, and finance to support Vietnamese startups and to become a platform connecting the Vietnamese startup ecosystem with that of the world.
