A representative of the airline said on March 12 that the move is aimed at increasing connectivity among flights to destinations in Russia and Europe through the route network from Sheremetyevo, which is said to be the largest Russian airport in terms of passenger and freight traffic, take-off and landing operations and the capacity of the cargo facilities. When switching to Sheremetyevo, Vietnam Airlines will change the timetable of flights between Hanoi and Moscow to make them more convenient for passengers. Nearly 5,000 flights delayed, cancelled in two months

The number increased by 4.2 percent from the previous month and posted a 0.9 percent year-on-year rise. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) operated a total of 29,363 flights in the two-month period, up 22.8 percent from the same period last year. Of which, Jetstar Pacific had the highest rate of delayed or cancelled flights with 838, accounting for 25.5 percent of its scheduled routes. HCM City seeks US businesses’ support for infrastructure development
HCM CITY — HCM City seeks to attract foreign investment in smart urban projects and urban infrastructure, and looks forward to support from US businesses, a top city leader said. Speaking at a meeting between city leaders and members of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Việt Nam on Friday, Lê Thanh Liêm, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, said over the years US businesses had helped strengthen co-operation between their country and the city. The city was undertaking administrative reform and improving the investment environment to create favourable conditions for foreign businesses to invest in key projects, he said. Developing Phu Quoc into tourism centre
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged local authorities of southern Kien Giang province to accelerate a plan to turn Phu Quoc, the largest island of Vietnam, into a big tourism centre. At his working session with Kien Giang authorities on November 22, PM Dung said the master plan to develop the island by 2010 and towards 2020 is going at a slow pace after four years of implementation, and thus failing to tap its potential. He asked the Ministry of Construction to coordinate with Kien Giang province to hire foreign experts for the implementation of infrastructure plans. He urged relevant ministries to focus on constructing main roads, completing Phu Quoc International Airport and An Thoi seaport on schedule and opening more international air routes to the island.
