Welcoming his guest’s decision to choose Vietnam as the first destination to visit after taking office and praising Australia’s recent achievements serving its post-pandemic recovery, Son said he believes Wong’s trip will contribute to creating new dynamics in promoting the countries’ strategic partnership towards the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2023. Speaking at the opening of the conference, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen recalled the city’s situation over the past year with many difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, besides the results achieved in the first six months of 2022. He reiterated what the city has done from which to resolve existing problems. Photo courtesy of Bayern Munich FC Paul Kennedy It was with somewhat of a heavy heart this week that I watched Sadio Mane leave Liverpool and sign for Bayern Munich. The Senegalese striker has been brilliant for Jurgen Klopp’s team, arguable his best player over the past 12 months, and although I really didn’t want him to go, I wish him nothing but the best in the Bundesliga. It also marked the end of Liverpool’s famed three-pronged attack that has served them so well in the past. Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino remain at the Reds, for now at least, as Mane plies his trade elsewhere. He’s not the first big name to leave Liverpool, and he sure as hell won’t be the last, but maybe he should have given a little thought to those that have left before him, heading off to pastures new. Talk gives young Lao people insight into traditional relations with Vietnam

Director of the academy Phouvong Ounkhamxeng, who is also a member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, told Vietnam News Agency that the talk aimed to help young Lao people gain a better understanding of the two countries’ special relations in order for them to uphold and develop bilateral ties. Vietnamese top legislator holds talks with British lower house speaker
Hue is on an official visit to the U.K. from June 28 - 30 at the invitations of Speaker of the House of Lords John McFall and Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle. The two sides also exchanged views on their cooperation at multilateral forums and on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They focused discussions on measures to further strengthen the Vietnam – U.K. Strategic Partnership and promote the role of the two parliaments in doing this.
