According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of Vietnam’s 5% broken rice is higher than that of Thailand, India and Pakistan. Specifically, each tonne of this kind of rice is sold for 418 USD, 8 USD higher than that of Thailand, and 30 USD and 75 USD higher than those of Pakistan and India, respectively. Meanwhile, the export price of Vietnam’s 25% broken rice is currently 403 USD per tonne, equal to that of Thailand, but 35 USD and 75 USD higher than those of Pakistan and India, respectively. Additional 913 new Covid-19 infections reported on Wednesday
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported an additional 913 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 10.75 million. Illustrative photo According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 42 out of 63 localities in the country. As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.75 million. On July 6, an additional 7,626 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.73 million. On Wednesday evening, no deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded, the country's total fatalities stay at 43,089, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. Specifically, the country was projected to achieve a growth rate of 6.3% this year and 6.5% next year, well above the region-wide figures which were estimated at 4.3% and 4.9% respectively. Compared to the previous update, Vietnamese growth rates were revised downwards to reflect the lower growth forecasts for China and the US, its major trade partners. Phan Thiet restaurant inspected after charging $192 for cooking service despite advance agreement with customers
The market surveillance officers of Binh Thuan visited a restaurant in the south-central Vietnamese province’s tourist city of Phan Thiet on Wednesday morning to clarify a customer’s complaint about its hefty charge of VND4.5 million (US$192) for cooking service. The Hung Vuong restaurant in Phan Thiet City’s Phu Thuy Ward welcomed a group of 48 tourists and one tour guide around lunchtime on Sunday, the facility’s manager Nguyen Ngoc Phong said. Having ordered their meal in advance, the tourist group brought along 18 kilograms of raw seafood they had purchased outside upon their arrival. Although the restaurant rarely allowed customers to bring food outside into its premises, the two sides discussed and agreed on using the restaurant’s service to cook the raw seafood with a charge of VND250,000 ($10.7) per kilogram that day, according to Phong. India is now the third biggest supplier of pharmaceutical products to Viet Nam, Tran Ngoc Liem, general director of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s HCM City branch, told the India-Viet Nam Pharmaceuticals and Health Industry Conference.
