Sao Do Group supports community with social responsibility activities

March 13, 2021 by www.vir.com.vn

The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the aviation industry into heavy losses by suspending flights and closing borders, making it impossible to travel abroad and hampering manufacturing at factories and workshops. Social distancing measures have been implemented, trade promotion and investment activities have been cut back, businesses have been struggling, and unemployment has been increasing.

When it rains, it pours, they say – and the pandemic was not the only hardship for the country last year. With the consecutive historic floods at the end of the year, the central region was overcome with losses and pain.

“But the more difficult the situation is, the more powerful and united Vietnamese people are, solidly forming a strong wall to overcome the crisis. That is the motivation behind Sao Do Group’s activities, together with other businesses and benefactors who headed immediately to the central region,” shared Nguyen Thanh Phuong, general director of Sao Do Group.

Responding to the call of Hai Phong city, Sao Do Group contributed 2 billion VND to the Support Fund for Central region.

At the end of October 2020, when Storm No.9 was raging, Sao Do Group has also sent a delegation to directly aid and support the storm and flood-ravaged Quang Binh. 1,600 gifts including medicine, food, and life jackets with a total value of VND160 million ($6,960) were given to the residents of Le Thuy, Quang Ninh, and Phong Nha districts in Quang Binh province by Sao Do Group.

Returning to Quang Binh province after the storm No. 9 passed, a member of the Sao Do could not help but grieve: “Everything was ruined by the floods and rain.”

“271 gifts worths VND1 million ($43.50) each were sent by Sao Do Group to 16 families with extremely difficult circumstances, 40 gifts for dialysis patients at Vietnam-Cuba-Dong Hoi Hospital, and 215 gifts for other families in difficulties. They are nothing compared to the loss of the people here but we hope it will contribute to sharing and alleviating their difficulties,” Phuong shared.

In Quang Binh, Sao Do Group also supported a clean water project in Huu Tan commune, Quang Ninh district worth VND80 million ($3,480) to invest in a water filtration system for the hamlet of more than 225 households.

From Quang Binh, the delegation continued on to Ha Tinh to present 211 gifts, worth VND1 million each.

Living is giving

This is the mindset of the leaders of Sao Do Group in taking responsibility for society. Throughout its operation, many meaningful and practical activities have supported the community, through humanitarian blood donation events; supporting social work in Haiphong; and holding a porridge distribution programme for patients with serious diseases at Viet Tiep Hospital.

In June 2019, Sao Do Investment Group cooperated with the Trade Union of Haiphong Economic Zone to distribute porridge for poor patients at Haiphong Viet Tiep Hospital.

More than 300 sets of TH True fresh milk and porridge have been hand-delivered to patients with serious diseases at the oncology and hemodialysis departments.

The porridge bowls offered patients not only full nutrition but also love and compassion in difficult circumstances, helping them to be more motivated and more optimistic in their life.

More than 300 bowls of porridge were handed out to patients. When patients were unable to stand up and receive their porridge, members of Sao Do Group brought it to their rooms to relieve some of the fatigue and difficulties that the patients were going through.

Previously, in May 2019, Sao Do Group cooperated with the Blood Transfusion Center of Viet Tiep Hospital to organise the “Red Journey connecting Vietnamese blood” event. This event has received a great response from the group’s employees and member companies.

Also in 2019, the football field of Dong Hai 2 Primary School in Hai An district, Haiphong city was completed, with nearly VND200 million ($8,700) sponsorship from Sao Do Group. Since then, the field has been a safe and clean outdoor space for the students. The scene of the old, muddy yard that was unusable throughout the rainy season was replaced with a green and modern play space.

“Sao Do Group will make more efforts to share and contribute to the community. Vulnerable people such as children, women, the elderly, or the poor are going to become the top priority in our social responsibility initiatives,” Phuong affirmed.

(Hanoi, Vietnam –  April 3, 2021) – For three days a beautiful blue light shone bright from some of the most iconic structures and properties developed by Sun Group in Vietnam as part of a global campaign to raise awareness about autistic spectrum disorders .

The “Light It Up Blue” (LIUB) campaign is an annual event spearheaded by Autism Speaks , an international organisation that aims to help communities worldwide to better understand and accept those who are on the autism spectrum.

This is the third year, Sun Group – one of Vietnam’s premier developers of tourism real estate and luxury residential projects – has supported Autism Speaks’ meaningful campaign, which coincides with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. This year, Sun Group decided to extend their contribution to the campaign, switching on blue lights at numerous properties and structures from 6pm to 10pm from April 1 to April 3, 2021.

At the same time every evening, the following landmark structures and properties all turned on ‘blue lights’: Nhat Tan Bridge, Sun Grand City Thuy Khue Residence and Sun Grand City Ancora Residence in Hanoi; Bai Chay Bridge, the Sun Wheel in the Sun World Halong Complex in Ha Long; and the Sun Wheel in Asia Park and Novotel Danang Premier Han River Hotel in Danang.

First launched in 2010, ‘The “Light It Up Blue” annual campaign has grown into a major global event. On April 2 every year, thousands of buildings and schools around the world and famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building in New York, the Chenghuang Museum in China and the Sydney Opera House, as well as the tallest buildings in the world, Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia, and even the Niagara Falls in Canada all turn blue in support of the autistic community and their families. In Vietnam, a growing number of individuals, businesses and organisations have been supporting the campaign in recent years.

In particular, Sun Group has utilised their resources to bring this event to a whole new level in Vietnam, calling upon the support of local authorities to grant the developer special permission to light up major structures such as Nhat Tan Bridge in Hanoi and Bai Chay Bridge in Halong.

“By joining hands with Autism Speaks to support the “Light It Up Blue” campaign over the past three years, we have had a chance to recognise that besides the difficulties people from this community experience when it comes to learning and communication, one of the most challenging problems they face is society’s lack of awareness,” said Bui Thi Thanh Huong, CEO of Sun Group.

The Sun Wheel in Ha Long switch on  blue lights  for autistic people

She added: “By lighting up some of our most recognised landmarks with the colour blue, which is associated with the autistic community, we hope to play our part in raising society’s awareness, so that everyone will have a more correct and clearer understanding of people from this community, so they can treat autistic individuals with love and respect.”

According to Ngo Duong, a representative of the “Light It Up Blue” campaign in Vietnam, an incorrect understanding about the autism syndrome can lead to discrimination, unfounded criticism and hurt the families and caretakers of people on the autism spectrum. This in turn can have detrimental effects on the education and social integration of autistic people, making matters even more challenging for families and caretakers.

“Attracting attention and raising social awareness about autism is challenge that requires us to engage in a long battle on behalf of the autistic community,” said Duong.

“In Vietnam, Sun Group is one of the few long-term supporters that offers help in this battle for awareness. We truly appreciate Sun Group’s participation, choosing to raise awareness through their own work is Sun Group’s choice and it clearly sends a message of love and acceptance.

“Sun Group’s contributions to LIUB are greatly appreciated by Autism Speaks. We hope that this message is spread more widely all over the world.”

One parent of an autistic child, who is also a member of the Embrace Autism Vietnam group, said: “When I saw landmarks in Hanoi turn blue, I was so touched. That makes us feel like we are cared for, and that we are not alone on our journey to battle this disability.

“Now I also have more hope that when people know more about this disability, they will have more understanding, acceptance and respect toward people from the autistic community.”

According to the 2020 statistics from the America Center for Disease Control (CDC), one in every 54 of the whole population are autistic. Currently in Vietnam there is still no official number of autistic people, however, 2009 statistics of the Ministry of Labour revealed about 200,000 Vietnamese had been diagnosed as autistic, and, according to the Central Paediatric Hospital, more and more children are being diagnosed and treated for autism.

Raising awareness about autism and urging communities to give more support to the autistic community will remain a major goal of the LIUB campaign in the coming years. Aside from the LIUB event, volunteers from the Vietnamese autism support community regularly write articles promoting awareness as well as offering advice on how to respectfully treat autistic people in social situations, and also inform parents of autistic children how they can complete administrative procedures for their children to receive disability certification and receive social welfare.

March 28, 2021 by www.vir.com.vn

ct group chairman calls for more investment in young generation
Tran Kim Chung, chairman of the Board of Directors of C.T Group, speaking at Dialogue 2045

C.T Group chairman Tran Kim Chung urged more funds to go towards the development of the younger generations at Dialogue 2045 held in the afternoon of March 6. He emphasised that the young generation cannot be left out of the conversation on Vietnam’s growth until 2045.

Chung shared that according to its vision to 2045, C.T Group will focus on six major programmes, including building affordable houses for young people and developing talented young human resources.

The group will also make efforts to develop young urban areas around big cities as well as participate in mobilising and contributing capital to the Ho Chi Minh City high-speed railway connecting with western provinces. Another programme is building satellite megacities around Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, C.T Group aims to develop four leading high-tech startups in the field of fintech, proptech, cell technology (cell tech) and flytech. Until now, the technical infrastructure of two of these companies has been completed. At the same time, the group will contribute to Ho Chi Minh City’s efforts to prevent flooding and build a greener environment by restoring the Vinh Loc ecological lake project in the city’s Binh Chanh district. The group is also developing a digital bank to support export activities.

According to Chung, C.T Group’s programmes are based on the long-standing strengths of the country such as its geographical location, population, and Vietnamese intelligence.

Chung proposed the government to support enterprises to build an international media campaign titled “Invest in Vietnam” to highlight Vietnam as a bright spot of the COVID-19 fight with high economic growth in the world. Vietnam is committed to accompanying enterprises to quickly solve any administrative problems, facilitating them to achieve sustainable development and venture into the global market. In short-term period, the country is quickly completing its legal framework on Public-Private Partnership investment.

He added that the government should make strong investment in activities supporting intelligent young people with aspirations. Vietnam needs to quickly complete the legal framework for the development and application of cell tech and flytech.

In particular, investment should be focused on developing transport infrastructure from Ho Chi Minh City to the western provinces and educational infrastructures for the Mekong Delta to nurture future human resources.

Focusing on investment in young generation: board chairman of C.T Group Tran Kim Chung

March 26, 2021 by tuoitrenews.vn

At the conference ‘Dialogue 2045,’ held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 6, Tran Kim Chung, chairman of the board of directors of C.T Group, said that it is necessary to focus on investing in the young generation.

In his opinion, until 2045 it will be a shortcoming if one does not mention young people.

Chung shared that C.T Group will focus on six major programs in accordance with its vision for 2045.

First, it will construct affordable houses for young people and develop talented young human resources, with a view to building young urban areas around big cities.

Second, C.T will participate in mobilizing and contributing capital to high-speed railways linking Ho Chi Minh City to southwestern provinces.

Third, the company will build satellite cities around Ho Chi Minh City.

Fourth, it will found four leading tech start-ups: Fintech, Proptech, Cell Tech, and Flytech. Until now, the technical infrastructure for two of the companies has been completed.

Fifth, the group will join hands with city authorities in preventing inundation and building a green environment by restoring the project of the Vinh Loc ecological lake in Binh Chanh, Ho Chi Minh City.

Lastly, C.T will develop a digital bank specializing in export support.

C.T Group’s programs have been formulated on the basis of the long-standing strengths of Vietnam such as the country’s geographical location, its population, and Vietnamese intelligence, according to Chung’s explanation.

He proposed that the government support enterprises in launching the ‘Invest in Vietnam’ campaign in global media such as Bloomberg and CNN , advertising that Vietnam is an epitome of combating the COVID-19 pandemic while still maintaining economic growth.

The government should also cut red tape, streamline administrative procedures, and guide companies through to sustainable development as well as global market conquering, the board chairman suggested.

In the short term, government agencies should quickly complete a comprehensive legal framework for public-private partnerships.

In addition, the government needs to heavily invest in activities supporting intelligent young people who have aspirations and quickly complete a legal framework for the development and application of Cell Tech and Flytech, for there is currently no such legal framework.

In particular, the heavy investment should focus on transport infrastructure from Ho Chi Minh City to southwestern provinces and on developing educational infrastructure for the Mekong Delta to foster future human resources.

Supporting industry firms anticipate high 2021 growth

Hanoi (VNA) – Supporting industry enterprises are witnessing huge opportunities from Vietnam joining free trade agreements and more capital flowing into the country.

According to the Government’s master plan on the development of supporting industries to 2020 and vision to 2030, Vietnam will develop three key areas: spare parts, supporting industries for leather, footwear, and apparel, and high-tech industry.

Resolution No 115/NQ-CP on supporting industry development measures contains a goal that, by 2030, the local supporting industry will meet 70 percent of demand in domestic production and consumption and account for around 14 percent of industrial production value. Some 2,000 firms will be capable of directly supplying items to assembly enterprises and multinational groups in the country.

To meet the goal, the Government has set out seven measures to develop supporting industries, including fine-tuning mechanisms and policies, ensuring and effectively pooling resources for supporting industries, financial and credit solutions, developing domestic value chains and markets, improving the capacity of supporting industry enterprises, and building statistics and data.

As Vietnam has joined the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and other free trade agreement s, demand for production and trade as well as links between domestic and foreign firms are substantial.

Chairman of the Hanoi Supporting Industries Business Association Nguyen Hoang said that, over recent years, many supporting industry enterprises have supplied items to major multinational groups and foreign businesses in Vietnam such as Canon, Samsung, Toyota, and Honda, and also exported to partners worldwide.

General Director of the Hikari Vietnam Production and Trading Company Ltd, Nguyen Duc Cuong, said most firms have faced difficulties, both directly and indirectly, due to COVID-19. These may continue this year but positive signs remain as Vietnam’s economy is growing, thus making it easier for the country to attract foreign investment and offer opportunities to domestic companies.

If domestic supporting industry enterprises can seize the opportunities, they could quickly join global supply chains, he said.

Meanwhile, a representative from the Century Synthetic Fiber Corporation said orders from manufacturers in the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan (China), and the US, as well as foreign companies in Vietnam, have increased since last year thanks to disrupted supply chains in China caused by COVID-19.

Cuong believes that only enterprises with long-term business plans, good governance, and strong links will prosper./.

Australia, World Bank support Vietnam’s data survey on gender

Hanoi (VNA) – The World Bank ( WB ) has signed an agreement with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to provide a non-refundable aid worth 740,000 AUD (563,000 USD) through the Australia -World Bank Group Strategic Partnership’s second phase to help Vietnam conduct a nationwide survey serving its gender policy making.

The survey is part of the economic empowerment project for Vietnamese women, performed by the General Statistics Office (GSO). It covers 6,000 men and women across the country to collect data on their daily time allocations.

Carolyn Turk, World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, said despite progress in improving gender equality in education, health, and economic empowerment, Vietnam still faces many persistent challenges in gender equality.

Developing a comprehensive gender database is important for monitoring gender gaps and designing effective solutions to the issue, she added.

Vietnam established a set of national gender development indicators in 2011, but nearly two-thirds of them are not classified by gender. Meanwhile, there are no indicators related to the use of time.

Measuring the use of unpaid time, such as the time spent on household chores, is important for measuring contributions of men and women in their families, and for understanding how investments and public policies affecting the use of time can reduce gender gaps in the labour market and promote gender equality.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie said one of the main reasons why 40 percent of women are not engaged in the Vietnamese labour market is due to responsibilities of taking care of their families.

The survey will provide more data on the time for unpaid jobs and serve as a foundation for redistributing those fairly for equality and for the economy, she said.

Australia is pleased to support the Vietnamese Government and the World Bank Group in conducting this survey, the ambassador added./.
